Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

I should be getting my 1.6 16V in my Nova back soon so I'm glad to see someone else is doing it. How is the car going?

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

Realised I havent updated this for a while so please bear with me....

The main issue with the car recently has been the engine, so, convinced that it was near the end of its days, I went out and bought that C20XE setup.
But, having listened to various peoples opinions, it seems that the 'knocking' Ive been so paranoid about isnt actually that bad yet and theres a bit of life still left in the engine!

So I took it to its maiden track day at Llandow on the weekend, with half an idea it might die. But it didnt.
The car performed well all day, the only problem being a blackflag at one point for the exhaust working itself off a mounting
Ive now decided that the engine isnt anything to really worry about so Im just going to keep running it and see what happens. Im hoping its going to last at least until Trax and another Llandow trackday in September.

Im starting to feel the love with the car now so between now and Trax in September theres a list of things I want to sort out but the main thing is handling.
Its got uprated shockers front and rear and a.n other lowering springs but Im looking into a decent set of springs, anyone recommend anything?

Couple of pics from the day:

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

mk3 gsi rims look a lot better than the soft stars, but get that suspension sorted, it needs at least a 30 mm drop to stop looking like a 4x4 and stiffening up to stop the boat rolling! got a passenger seat in now too i see.

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

Sold the Softstars, got the GSi rims running on Toyos which seemed pretty good and havent worn that much. Cant be pushing it hard enough obviously...

Springs and a set of polybushes are on the shopping list!

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

when we come to do the wheels if youve got time and patience, you could swap front legs from the blue one to the grey one and swap the rear springs when your down

viola one brand new set of shocks and springs for time being!

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

Get some springs from www.coilsprings.co.uk

Call them up & tell them what you have & what you do with it (track days etc). Just avoid the rubbish from the likes of Pi & spax etc. Most road going springs will roll too much on track.

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

Also, had an interesting 'run' against a 2.0 8v Nova and there really wasnt much between them....

that being the fact that there was 3 people in this 2.0 8v nova mind an only 2 in the c16!!!!!
