Well, after reading some of the quality Nova restoration threads that are going on here at the moment, mine feels quite basic; but nevertheless Im battling on!

Got the brakes and suspension fitted the other week, forgot to take pics but heres one to prove its done:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3210005.jpg

Note, now running on 14" Astravan steels to a) accomodate the 2.0 brakes b) run with the sleeper look for a little longer and c) get one set of wheels out of my garage!!

The Sparcos that are hopefully going on over the weeked:

to replace these:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3210003.jpg

Also done the same time as the brakes was a bit stripping at the rear:

which leads me on to todays update.....

While looking for inspiration today to get something done, we stumbled across these:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3210001.jpg

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3210002.jpg

A BMW cycle rack fitment and a piece of bar which just happened to fit between the two rear suspension mounts. Brace yourselves....

Some welding, grinding, more welding and more grinding later came this:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3210008.jpg

Painted and in place:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3210011.jpg

Which then in turn lead to me looking at the rear and deciding that the soundproofing had to go......

Getting there:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3210012.jpg

and finally, all primed as we left it this evening, ready for paint tomorrow:

good progress, seats should hold you a bit better in the corners than the current drivers seat lol, seen the van parked down the car sales the other day looking good

Cheers guys, hopefully get some more done to the Nova during the weekend, just bought some more bits now. Im happy enough with the van for now, not much more needs doing unless I find some stupid-to-leave-there bargains!
Forgot to say cheers to Kie (C16Nova on here) for his handywork today, all i managed to do really was take some soundproofing out and make the tea!!

Some more progress yesterday saw the rear floor being painted:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3220001.jpg

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3220004.jpg

Sadly the light in my garage doesnt do the paint any favours!!

Then, the front started to get stripped:

Ready for prep. paint and installation of the Sparcos

Dude the boot looks great, but you'd be alot better off if you bolt/weld the brace to the turrets.

Cheers Benn, hadnt thought about that; its in now though so might be something il look at doing in the future.

Update from yesterdays work and this was the scene

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3240009.jpg

Main job for the day was to get the buckets in. Decided that the passenger seat would be fixed in one position so a subframe was made to suit as the Sparcos same on Starlet runners. Top job on the welding again by Kie:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3240011.jpg

While he did the seat, I got on with a majorly important job:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3240007.jpg

Once all the measuring and sizing up for the buckets was done, the front floor was painted:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3240010.jpg

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3240017.jpg

Lastly, got the KYB shockers and strut brace bolted in:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P3240014.jpg

Fair play, for a set of £26 shockers, these have really stiffened the rear end up; can see why they are rated by a load of the road rallying boys!!

All thats needed is the drivers seat as I picked the runners up today and its back on the road!

Wanted to get the maximum use of the car while its still taxed and tested. Plus its a solid shell so there wasnt anything structural to sort out first.

As said before, its gonna be used over the summer, then off the road for a full freshen up after November when the MOT is out and winter is here

So much for the car being back on the road!

Had a spend over the last week or so and ended up with the following:

Firstly a pair of DTM mirrors to replace the freshly painted one I broke by stepping on it. Cheers Elgan for the replacements!

Also new harnesses from a visit to Peter Lloyd Rallying, which was fatal as it led me to the biggest purchase so far:

Yes, an OMP cage!!

Started fitting it this afternoon/evening, some pictures taken along the way:

Its all in place, temporarily bolted in to get the right location of the mounting plates.
Next job is to take it all back out and weld the mounting plates in and also paint the cage in a suitably lairy colour

Another job on the list of things to get done is to fit this:

To replace my current starting method of broken ignition switch and screwdriver!

Also between now and the 19th, the following has to get done:

Collect, paint and fit tyres to my track wheels
Make and fit new strut brace to weld between the rear turrets to replace the existing bolted in item
Renew the brake discs and pads to Brembo discs and AN Other Pads and upgrade the brake fluid
Oil and filter change now that the engine has done a few miles

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

Nice cage! I can't see an OMP one on their website, only a Sparco one. Can I ask how much it was?

Re: G4MBS' C16XE Nova

The OMP one was the about the same price as the Sparco one they list; he didnt even want to knock anything off for a cash deal!!

Havent done much more to this really as been too busy messing around with other things; must get onto it this week
