My Mk4 Astra GSi

Thought it was about time I put a few pictures up of the new car.
Basically I decided to sell my Astra VXR as it was coming up on a year old, 3days later it was sold. It then left the hole of what to replace it with.

Generally theres nothing new that really floats the boat and tbh I always loved my MK4;s. This then resulted in a 3 week or so trawl of auto trader, pistonheads, forums etc. etc. to try and find either a SRiT, GSi or at a very push a coupe Turbo. Then 2 weeks passed today gold was struck:

Right, set the scene, its a dark cold Tuesday night, your surfing the web as you have done for the last 4-weeks looking for a suitable car and after being barraged with expensive high mileage, expensive rafts of ****e, cheap poor condition, and just general ****e you start to loose the will to look any further. A sruf of Ebay finds a black MK4 GSi with 1min 30secs remaining with no reserve and a very low top bid. In sheer boredom you through a max bid in for a laugh with only seconds to spare, then disaster..................the pc crashes.
You then try to reboot and eventually get back onto ebay to see what the winning bid was.....you then sit in amazement as you find you won the auction and it was less than your max bid to boot. You stare up to heaven querying if the man upstairs is just pulling your leg, but give him a nod and the benefit of the doubt for now.

A quick message to the seller and everything seems ok, despite the finishing price he is happy and also adds in " if you come and look at it, decide you dont want it then thats fine".......by this time your checking the calender to see its not April fools day, the calender suggests its not but hmmmm.

So the arrangements were made to collect the car that Thursday, and as per usual the car wasnt exactly local. So a 6-7hour drive later and we arrive in Warboy Cambridgeshire. A look around the car and in all honesty it was far better than I was expecting.
The deal was complete after a test drive we headed home.

It also came with the customary chav valve:

Plans are simple, to build an astra which is both good for long distance driving and also track use.

Stage 1 was to sort the handling out. Thus far thats consisted off some Bilstein B6 dampers, Eibach pro-kit, whiteline adjustable RARB & 4 new Yokohama Parada;s (I took a wild guess that the Full-run remoulds fitted wouldnt be up to the job, oh and the chav number plates have gone)
Will post some pictures up once the cars had time to settle in and I get around to downloading them.

The next stage will be too look at the power. Im generally not interested at throwing 300+bhp at it just ot be able to shout about having a 300bhp Astra. Im more interested in getting the car setup with a balance of power that it can handle both in terms of grip & reliability. To this end Im still deciding what route to go, and threw which tuner. Although I have ordered a complete Milltek system (more through force than choice as the current system is on its last legs. If the Milltek comes and is as bad as others Ive had expect to see a for sale thread).
Im also look at a Quaiffe diff although I would like an M32 fitted first, all a case of priorities and what money allows really.
