Calibra turbo restoration

Well after years of saying i would buy one i went and finally did it. Brought the car from Corsakid on here. lovely car very clean few issues with it but plan is to get it mint as possible and basically standard as can be really, which is just how i like them to be fair. 97 on the clocks. got history files with it. runs sweet as a nut.
got it and gave her a clean up

rare turbo with cloth option on the seats which makes me like it as i hate leather too hence the reason i rather liked the car to begin with.

few issues with it. the 4x4 doesnt work at all. Bust accumlator bulb means the transfer box has gone. However i have a replacement one with it.

i do also have a mike hayward locked box kit which came with the car. unsure whether to fit it or sell it on as bit of a pain to fit but would be good with it on even on standard set up. not to sure if you run these will oil in the boxes or what happens with it as you bin the hydraulics of the system.

big cooler came with the car makes things look small this thing its huge. will need 500 bhp to tow it round.

had the car all of ten mintues out on the road, opened up the sunroof for it to jam open and bulkle. The arms werent beining moved by the motor which caused it to burn out the motor and bend the amrs. Therefore new sunroof fitted. Now with the car being a late spec cally it has a different type of sunroof. which is a pain so am on the look out ofr a new one.

in bits already, had it three days

different sunroof can be seen from this shot so if anylong has one then i would love it of you.
although a cally drop top might be an option as here ha ha

well for now i have my other mode of transport which am still finding hard to get rid of as i love this gsi, its a great car, just have to get rid as two is being spoilt. but am tempted to do the cally and store the gsi for the summer as i have the space. hmmm will see good offer it might go.

for now cally stays under cover untill a sunroof is sourced.

list few jobs needed

drivers wing mirror.
drivers window needs sorting
plastics inside need lining up
4x4 needs sorting
leak in exhaust
boost issue at 5k or engine missfire, crank sensor i feel or incorrectly gapped plugs.

few other choice mods too

it is a locked gears kit for the transfer box. that means its pernanant 4x4 with no hydraulics such as the accumulator bulb and no need to run from the power steering resulting in better car i believe. i do have a pick of it will need to get it up on the net to explain what it is. very good comprehesive instructions with the kit from Mike as well. Just need to give him a bell to enquire as to the finer details of the fitment.

cheers chip. hopefully it should be good once done like you say rare beast now. be interesting to see how many left compare with the cavs.
