| Corsa 20XE After selling the Astra i bought a Diesel corsa to commute in. Unfortunately some twats decided they wanted to break into it and bent both fecking doors back.
unwilling to put any money into the diesel powered shed, i ran it until something else came along....
Which is a 98 Corsa Sport in brocade yellow with a 20XE fitted.
Originally owned by a friend of mine, He blew the x14xe up by going 5th to 2nd on the motorway
I persuaded him to stick a 2ltr engine in, and thanks to another friend of mine it got fitted.
He ran around in it until getting through basic training in the Army and was posted to Germany. He originally wanted me to fix up the car and sell it on and split the profit. I didn't want to bother. So it languished in a garage for 6 months. then i got fed up with the Diesel ****e and asked him what he wanted for it. He replied "nowt mate, just take it" But because his dad had paid for the engine and conversion kit he wanted some money back. £700.
So £700 it is.
It needs a bit of work.
It has the odd rusty patch, a few dings and needs a new bumper
I have already replaced a few bits on it.
Spec:
Originally Corsa Sport x14xe
Brocade yellow
Early 20XE engine
Mtech conversion kit
Mtech Quickshift
Mtech Nylon gear linkage bushes (highly recommended)
Magnex Cat back system
" Superflow custom made Aircraft 304" stainless steel De-Cat section with silencer
256mm Brakes
Replaced:
CTS
Air Filter
Dizzy cap
rotor arm
plugs
oil
Gear linkage bushes
Passenger side mirror
Earths
Boot hatch
Exhaust system
Still to do:
New sump gasket
Throttle body
Clean ICV
Sort the dents out
New front bumper
Sort the keyed paintwork on the passenger side
Paint car
New tyres
Sort rear speakers
Give it a wash
Added pics now.
You can see the "repair" my mate did to the bumper when he hit a rabbit, the nice scratch someone left up the side of it (including swirl to finish off), the bonnet had stick on GSi vents, and the comedy centre console painted Yellow!
I haven't washed it or anything yet either, but i did spray one of the arches with Autoglym black dye to try it out. |

| Sounds like a good deal you got there!
Bit of work to do but you can't beat a broc yellow corsa, they have a certain je ne sais qua i think.
Looking forward to pics and updates!

| I went to pick it up with Dan, a friend on mine. He did the conversion and was going to MOT the car and give it a once over.
He MOT'd the car, which passed - only an advisory on the tyres.
He changed the rear boot hatch which was rusting around the rear wiper
He changed the oil and plugs
I picked it up, and it wasn't what i was expecting
It wasn't idling very well, it didn't pull very well and was hard to get into gear
So a call to autovaux and to chris astley,
Changed the CTS - Made starting easier although not perfect yet.
Replaced the Air filter, the car just had a green cotton filter stuck directly onto the AFM.
I bought a replacement silicon hose from Chris. I then ventured down to my local stick on tat emporium for an airfilter. Also bought an Earthing kit whilst was there.
Result is a massive improvement in torque and powerband |

| Last night i ventured down to Dans with some Nylon bushes i'd bought.
An hour later the gearshift was perfect. Goes into gear perfectly. There is very little play in the stick as well.
It is now a pleasure to drive rather than a chore, because the linkage wasn't setup right it required herculean effort to change into 1st and 2nd some times. The nylone bushes have tightened the shift up, and the quickshift means very little movement is required to change gear.
In Dans words: "best XE corsa gear shift i've felt" "im getting some for mine" |

| My new throttle body and injectors turned up this week so i had a crack at fitting the throttle body.
Took the old one off, to find the chocolate orange section missing and the holes filled with two bolts
Also had a good look at all the pipes around to make sure nothing was rubbing or had split.
I cleaned up the new throttlebody with engine degreaser and stuck it on.
It fired up first time, no having to hold the throttle on. The throttle is a lot better and not as harsh as before.
Oh, i also replaced the gearbox oil with 75/90 fully synth stuff and changed the wipers
The only mechanical thing that needs doing now is to change the sump gasket, get the Injectors ultrasonically cleaned and stick them in.
Then its on to the body work.
I still need to replace the passenger side wing mirror because Autovaux gave me the wrong one last week, and i slept in till 12:20 today so didn't get chance to go down. |

| Bit of an update. haven't had anything for a while.
I bought 4 new tyres to be fitted. unfortunately only 3 could be fitted because the locking wheel nut on the front passenger side won't come off. Its going to be a bastard.
I've got some 2ltr springs to go on as well, because the car sits too low at the front with the gmax springs on; and it rubs the new tyre when going round left handers when the weight transfers.
ICV is playing up, but im going to change that at the same time as the springs get done.
I fitted an MP3 head unit i had spare, and have managed to find a 2 channel amp, so im going to use that and make myself up a stealth shelf for the 6*9's
Its great not having to spend £500 a month keeping a modded car on the road lol. |

Going to rebuild the bottom end as well.
Sent my injectors off today to be cleaned.
Its got Dave's old Airbox on it now rather than a cone filter. I may try and modify a spare SFI box to fit on as well.
Once all thats done, its going to get the body work sorted out.
Because of the baby, we've got a 6 month mortgage break, which frees a few quid up to spend on the car.
I actually got it for nothing in the end as well, i just need a rebuild a mail server for someone in return
good thing is, i won't lose any money on it because it cost me nowt to buy
Oh, i've got an amp that needs installing at some point and i need to sort some decent rear speakers out. |
