Best of luck with the fitment; for a 'road' car I personally wouldn't have gone for GRP as it doesn't fit anywhere near as snug as a proper tailgate. | yeah though it was an on the side business, his missus answered the phone, i went for grp because it doesnt rot like my old one but the difference in weight is massive, its a full road trim sleeper so every little helps. |

| Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET just hard getting to the rear hinge bolts really once theyre slackened just move them about with light taps on the hammer, the origional catch bolts to it perfectly the markings are all there for it.
pic of where the latch goes, you can just see it on the left, just needs some M6 bolts and big washers on the back for security
its so light and easy to move, just watch your back when you take the old one off, when you pop the last lifter it suddenly weighs a ton! |

| Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET not trying to be funny chap, but if your going to the effort and trouble of a grp boot, why not go plastic insted of glass? surly it'd be best to get the full benifits of of the weight saving effort. |

| Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET ive got a huge sheet of polycarb, i would have done it but i dont like the look, ive got one fitted to the pug, the glass only weighs about 3kilo anyway if that and it looks much nicer too.
only really going to the effort for the fact that mine was rotting in places, and there the only real worries on the shell, just a bonus about the weigh saving (which is huge, even with glass) |

| Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET got some more work done but only on the tailgate , just waiting on some stuff in the post then the inlet side can be bolted back together once and for good, will be sending my turbo off thursday to universal turbos for the work to be done and ive booked the whole week off so ive got 12 days to sort out the bodywork whoopdybloodydoo.
heres some pics of the tailgate "smoothing" before and after
terrible
after some filler some sanding and a lick of uberthick primer
let that dry then went out to jawel to fetch some nice non compliant paint mmmmmm, burnt a nice hole in my wallet too.
£68.10 ouch
got the tailgate flatted off and im pretty pleased at how little work is left on it. |

| Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET with primer lol, my mate still has my "good" gun i had to use his ****ty antique gravity gun for the primer and it didnt exactly come out smooth, but its high build so it doesnt really matter, i need my gun before i can even think about putting pearl basecoat on anything without it looking like dog meat . |

| Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET been slow going this week, mainly due to having to borrow money out due to people not being able to manage their money very well and being threatened with eviction, so not very happy as i couldnt send my turbo off, next week i WILL do it!! everything else WILL take back seat!
so all i could do was tie up loose ends, just got some more wiring to do.
boost gauge fitted
got some hose for the turbo coolant feed, though a metre would be ok for the whole tract but it only covered from the header to the turbo so ill need some more of that, also had to spin the dump valve under the header tank due to lack of room.
LET throttle body, as im lazy and couldnt be arsed to lathe an insert to block the breather, also noticed the two vacuum outlets are much bigger on the LET.
dont really know what to do now, its raining i have no car, i cant paint in this weather, im just stuck now till next thursday, bummer! |
