Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET

I assume the standard fulcrum/hinge points at the top are not present so it must be on pins?

Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET

Good stuff boss! Yours had gone in the same place as mine, I will be on the hunt for another shell or break the car after completion so am just leaving it as is!

Oh, sorry to hi jack the thread but the metal hinges mean it can use the original boot catch and not have hasty pins?

Are they G-Max front dampers I spy? Yours is obviously later than mine due to the unbolting battery tray, is it (or was it) a V grill one, circa P/R or later?

by the look of the pic the boot is an identical replica so the catch will be able to bolt on the underside as normal, yeah its on gmax all round and ive never had an issue with handling problems which is why ive never got a bad word to say .
yeah its a mk2 V reg, had to do the crossmember the off side was just surface bubbles but the near side needed a patch, good as new now the only other rust is some surface rust on one of the rear spring seats but that wont be there for long

Very nice dude, doing well.
Taking it there are new/let pistons... wouldnt it have been easyer to take the engine all the way out?

Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET

been working flat out this week in the sun getting everything sorted so i can just chuck the turbo on and fit the rad and cooler when it gets done, so took the rear mount off and welded the spacer on fitted yet another set of new bushes to the gearlinkage, the old (new) ones were worn due to the C mount (bit where the pin goes through) was too slack so i gave that a few choice tweaks with mr claw.

then whipped the tb off, ive just bought a let one off jonlem so i wont need to block off the breather and t into the vacuum.

got some new plugs (super 4s) and leads too, the king was wrong so i butchered some old ht leads and recrimped the ends untill i can get a new one from my usual supplier.

spent all day wednesday welding the exhaust up too, was a total bastard to do and my mask was hindering progress somewhat, need a hooded one in this weather, but at least thats another job off the list. also got some longer exhaust studs fitted in, the XE ones were only bitning maybe 2-3 threads in.

waited till 11 yesterday for the postie, he came he went and still no tailgate sooooo..... spent 4 hours trying to phone agmotorsport on both numbers to no avail, got pissed off so filed a complaint with paypal, ordered it 2 weeks ago and it was in stock WTF, anyway got the missus to leave a message at about 2ish, waited till about half 4 then rang them again and got an answer, finally!!!! the guy was brilliant on the phone but cant help but think he was avoiding me as he knew exactly who i was but hadnt contacted me (paranoia overload) he said he posted it tuesday (WTF?) and it should have been there thursday, friday at the latest, he gave me some tips on fitting the tailgate too, proper nice bloke kind of feel bad that i made a complaint now.

gave the interior a good scrub started with the carpets and then the back seats (will do the fronts when im not climbing in and out dirty,
fron carpet had some stains so scrubbed them out and wet vacd it didnt do the footrest yet

rear bench left has been scrubbed right is still minging

now onto todays progress, nice n early look what arrives at the door
TADAAAA one big **** off lightweight parcel

unwrapped

wasnted too pleased with where the "origional" handle had been smoothed out, good job i know bodywork and can sort it myself

Re: my corsas evolution from XE to LET

AG motorsport is a 'part-time' business, which is probably why he didn't answer earlier in the day. The 'smoothing' of the boot isn't the best, but that didn't bother me. Its GRP at the end of the day so isn't ever going to be spot on.

Best of luck with the fitment; for a 'road' car I personally wouldn't have gone for GRP as it doesn't fit anywhere near as snug as a proper tailgate.
