Turbo Nova
actuator painted and trial fitted
new water pump
saab reds and EVO5 ECU
getting close now![]()
Please tell me its not a plastic impellor water tho...
Are the saab reds bigger/better flow?
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
yeah it is, i was told its better to get the plastic one as the metal one causes probs apparantlycant remember who it was who told me but it was someone who knew a hell of a lot more than myself lmao
yeah the saabs flow more and only need around 3.5bar to work with the evo5 chips, the standard yellows need jacking over 4 bar to flow enough, ideally cosworth greens would have been a better choice as the impediance is the same as the yellows and they flow almost perfectly at 4bar, but they cost too much!!
also pulled the bottom end apart on my XEV block and it didnt look good, the big end bearings were ****ed beyond beleif and had deformed, all that just from low pressure on start up!!
so ive junked that idea as its going to cost too much to have it measured with bearings etc, ill just have to use my C20 block instead,
more bad news, cant get hold of a bearing for my F28 so im going to use the F20 for a bit till thats sorted.
have you tried www.cav16.co.uk for f28 bearings by any chance?
yeah they dont do em from what ive seen going to try regal on monday chip reckons they do em.
which f28 bearing are you after
the one you needed, ive got 2 carriers totally destroyed, thats the only reason i sold the good rollers to you.
i just want new ones so ill see how i get on with regal, my missus brother lives in germany so ill see if he can wangle some if i have no joy.
have luck with the bearing
paul of here sounded like he could sort something out
According to pg 19 of March's (issue 81) Total Vauxhall, LMF do a bearing collar for the F28. Just incase this info is of any use lmao
The water pump impellers were changed to plastic because when the pumps seized up they were damagin or snapping the timing belt leading to total engine damage.
So, they made them plastic so if they seize now lots of little bits of plastic go about your water pipes ect. lmao
Corsa Sport c20xe soon!
calcification i think was what was happeningprobably caused by people running just water or the wrong mix, not too sure?
got my intercooler through a few days ago and offered that up, im well chuffed the bumper wont need cutting
more pics soon, just gotta upload them.
Sounds good.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
not had much time lately to update the thred so ill just let the pics do the talking
been working on this for a while, took ages to get it to fit and close just gotta mount a switch for the fan.
turbo pistons cleaned up then polished the crowns
£36 worth of nuts and bolts from vaux, i though these were NLS but they have loads.
started to strip down the front end and clean it up, also gave the wheels a once over they were disgusting lmao
was greeted by this this morning, **** that!

Gauge is a bit trick.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
had to be, i hate in your face pods but needed it in sight, the insides of the ashtraye have been heavily modded to get it to fit in without jamming up, im really happy with the result.
Yeah looks very neet and tidy. Very nice.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
no pics im afraidyet..
engine is pretty much done, even got as close to putting the head back on it but the ****ty ebay gasket i have decided to **** up on fitting, serves me right for saving pennies tw@ eh?
popping down the local carspares for a decent BGA item and getting a full cambelt kit for it while im there.
finally got all my intercooler pipes routed and fitted, need to get a custom high pressure PAS pipe made up and the engine is done and dusted
just got to wait a week or so then i can send this bloody turbo off for its work, been putting it off till last minute.
been sorting out rust too and as some may have spotted there was a bubble under the bootlid rubber about an inch long, after scraping it out i sanded a bit lower (would need painting anyway) and found ****ing filler covering a lovely bit of arse end action ****ing lazy bastard bodyshop bastards
so bought this, dont think that ****er will rust lmao.
not cheap at £145 but on a full road trim car every little bit of weight saving counts![]()
I like your thinking with the boot lid..
save paying to get it semi smoothed too..lol
Glad the engines almost there.. ebay hg? sounds one to be warely of..
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
But surely you want to save wieght on the front?!?!? Not the back, you need to move the weight from the front to the rear.... you should buy a lead boot lmao
need weight over the wheels to get the power down, ive already shaved a few kilos out at the front to compensate for the extra weight of the turbo and cooler, will probably get a FG bonnet too but not just yet.
To think i did see this car in XE form, I cannot wait until LET form!!
me neither keep losing interest, walked to the shop the other day and an astra gsi turbo launched off the lights, the sound was beutiful, my interest was instantly fully restored lmao, was really pissed off when the gasket ripped but kindof glad it did it then rather than at full boost lol.
got my new HG today, got a proper decent BGA item, touch wood ive never ever had a single bad product from them and never had one of their gaskets let go so should hold up.
depending on weather in the morning that should be fitted with the head then all i need to do is time it up and remount the rad then i can get on with the new exhaust.
got a nice Bailey DV26 for it too lmao dont know how quick thatll get old but i kind of like the distinct noise.
also need to get my spray gun back from my mate as i need to redo the back bumper thanks to some inconsiderate **** over christmas ploughing it and driving offalso the new tailgate.
Any idea on the weight saving for the boot lid chief?
You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don't do too many things wrong.
Warren Buffett.
it says its around 5kilos (weight of new bare fg one) so when i cheesewire the glass out ill do a comparison, gotta remember ill be ditching the lock the wiper the motor the CL just going the have the bottom latch and have it on a popper.
