| seen this car before and its gorgeous!
one thing that catches my eye is the cross check pattern on the alloy sheeting, does this not attract your vision too much when its on the dash? seems to jump out of the photo.
would love a chevette or a sunbeam for rallying, old and fun and not escort prices

| Thanks for the comment boys, she's got a Ford English axle which is 5 linked and then she's running a Sierra Type 9 Gearbox with a Tran-x SCCR gear kit in it, these are both mated via a custom made propshaft.
As for the ECU i have a slight problem there as im running a GY coded ECU and she's been to the rollers and they told me its the wrong one as the GY code means its from a later style Lambda sensor'd engine where as i req a FG or FP which is supposed to be for an early none Lambda sensor'd engine ie Astra Mk2 GTE 16v etc.
I can't put HS Grp 4 arches or the HSR arches on her Like my old car below (Geniune HSR)
as the class's i intend to run her in won't allow this as she has to keep the standard silhoutte for the car ie no extra arches as it will be run on Road Rallies and on Single Venue Stage Rallies but in the Road Rally class other wise you have to go up against the lads with Escorts that have 10-20K engine's in let alone the rest of the car so on my budget i just won't be competitive where as the road rally class just may bare some fruits etc.
Total Vauxhall are coming up 1st week in Feb to do a full feature on her so watch this space for more details.
Cheers Dave aka Daishag Rallying 07835971713
P.S. Yeah the Manta's were great cars and bloody good fun |

I actually sprayed her red and put her back on the road and changed the suspension to tarmac rally spec, i then sold her to over to Ireland.
Yeah i've had 3 of them featured in various magazine's the Andrews one is a mate's car that only actually had the pleasure of building and taking it for a couple of good blasts but sadly never actually owned her.

| genuine HSR. love it!!!! some tidy motors there!! liking the wee redone aswell. any other pics of the engine bay? did you manage to keep the standard inlet manifold? what about the brake servo? running a pedal box i take it?
also you can keep using your ecu but you need to earth pin 20 on the ecu plug and that will stop the ecu looking for a lambda signal.

Did'nt know which car you wanted a picture of the engine bay of so here's another of the Red One and one of the HSR.
The HSR was running std HSR servo and master cylinder unit with twin 48 side draught's whilst the Red One is running a std injection system manifold for the C20XE with a Power Cap from Chris Astley Motorsport, yes im running a Bias pedal box which igot from Ian Jemison up in York, cheers for the advice on the ECU will haveto keep that in mind and try it tommorow, just by earthing out Pin 20 on the ecu it fools into thinking it does not have a Lamda Sensor !!! Who would have thought just a quick easy fix like that would do the trick !!!

Good luck in your events.

PS, Love the red one! | Not cheap mate BUT it did come as a complete kit ie pedal box new cylinders (choice of bore size to suit your requirements) new bottles and dash adjuster etc was £340 from Ian Jemison up in York 01904 703863, he can do like mine to fit a std shell or as the works style HS / HSR shells with the raised battery tray.
