Below is a copy of the spec sheet for her, i really don't want to know how much this lot has cost me over the last 2 years but i know its gonna be expensive !!!!!!!!!!!

Chevette RFA 52 W Rally Car Spec’s

Shell / Bodywork :-

Vauxhall Chevette 1256 GL, 48,000 miles 1 owner from new with full dealer service history, Stripped to a bare shell then seam welded and gusseted, Sill’s double skinned for strength, Rear suspension turreted as per HS Hatch Shell and also Custom Made 4 link boxes welded intositu, Bulk head modified for clearance for the C20XE Dizzy, Front X-member lowered approx 2” to allow the fitment of a Manta Radiator, lower strut brace fitted between front lower wishbone rear mounts (also acts as a sump guard mount).
Safety Devices 6 point roll cage fitted with extra diagonal bar fitted to make X brace, Extra mounting points added to the “B” pillar seat belt mounting points and detachable door bars. Seat Mounting rails welded into position between the inner sills and transmission tunnels. Whole shell then painted in Lamborghini Diablo Red and then fitted with Custom made Satin Black HS Chevette Decals.
Fibreglass panels fitted inc rear hatch with HS spoiler, HSR front bonnet, Rear HS Grp4 quarter bumpers, Front HS Spoiler / Front Air Dam assy. Polycarbonate MSA spec tinted window kit fitted with slider units in door glass, Front windscreen replaced with a Laminated and Heated item. Kaylan mudflap’s fitted with alloy brackets, Custom made Grp4 HS Alloy spot lamp brackets

Interior :-

Std upper dash retained and also std instrument panel retained, custom made lower alloy dash fitted with all ancillary electrical components also original Chevette fuse box re-located to this panel instead of being under drivers side of dash. Custom made navigators foot rest with integral battery mount for Varley Red Top Battery. FIA spec cut off switch, FIA Spec Cobra Monaco S with Alloy base mounts, FIA Spec SRS 6 point 3” Harness’s with Aircraft style buckle & quick release attachment end’s. OMP Corsica Steering wheel, AFFF plumbed in and hand held extinguisher’s, Custom made alloy fire walling to seal off all fuel pump’s and tank’s etc etc, Std door trims and headlining retained and back seats to be fitted as when rules and regs state they have to.

Engine, Exhaust, Cooling and Fuel System :-

C20XE Red Top engine conversion which is Chassis mounted via custom made mounts, Manta 1800 wide pan alloy sump, ARP rod bolts, bottom end dynamically balanced, Lightened flywheel, std head and cams, std inlet manifold but fitted with polished and ported throttle body assy and power cap assy. Early Astra non cat ECU fitted with a Superchips performance chip, Samco induction hose with Pipercross induction cone filter. Ashley 4-2-1 RWD Conversion manifold with a Mk2 Escort twin box 2.25” system modified to fit. Manta radiator re-cored with a 4 core internal and a Cavalier Gsi cooling fan fitted. Mocal 13 Row oil cooler fitted with blue goodridge hoses fitted.
Std Chevette fuel tank modified with a 12mm feed and 8mm return, Facet Red Top fuel Pump feeding an Alloy swirl Pot, Sytec FP604 (135psi) injection fuel pump, Std Cavalier Gsi fuel filter, Goodridge fuel hoses, all located under the alloy fire wall at the rear of the car with inspection hatches for access to the pumps and filter.

Clutch, Transmission, Drive Train & Axle

Mondeo Clutch drive plate with Cavalier Gsi 4x4 pressure plate, Sierra release bearing, modified RS2000 Mk2 clucth arm, Ford Sierra Type 9 5 spd gearbox fitted with Tran-x SCCR gear kit, Alloy conversion bell housing to suit C20XE engine, Rose jointed quick shift gear stick. Custom made prop shaft. Ford Escort Mk2 English rear axle modified for 5 link location, modified Manta rear shocker and panhard rod bracket welded into place, with a 4.1 ZF plated LSD diff. Front Hubs are then fitted with adaptor spacer hubs to convert the GM PCD of 100mm to match the Ford rear axle PCD of 108mm enabling the use of Ford PCD rims all round. All hubs and half shafts are fitted with long high tensile strength wheel studs.

Steering :-

Lower steering column conversion for a spline end and Grp 4 style universal joint knuckle fitted, Quaife quick rack kit fitted into a re-conditioned rack.

Brakes :-

Bias pedal box supplied by Ian Jemison Engineering, Alloy horizontal hydraulic hand brake fitted, goodridge hoses through out, Cavalier Gsi 256mm front X-drilled & Grooved disc’s Cavalier Gsi callipers with Mintex 1144 pads, rear disc conversion with custom made weld on brackets to the axle to mount Zafira Gsi rear callipers using Escort Mk3 solid front discs.

Suspension :-

Rear suspension is turreted and fitted with Bilstein Shock absorbers with slip over coilover conversion’s and then with 180lbs 12” free length 2.25” springs, rear link rods inc panhard rod have polybushes at one end and then Rose jointed at the other, Front suspension is of the std style ie double wishbone, and are 450lbs –1” custom made springs, Bilstein shock absorbers, the front ARB has been removed and all the bushes have been polybushed, the upper wish bones have been modified to give 1-2 degrees of negative camber adjustment. Front X member has been seam welded and strengthened as have all the wishbones as per Grp 4 spec.

Wheels & Tyres

Road wheel and tyres are 4 x Minilight style alloy wheel 13” x 6” with yokohama A539 185 60 13” tyres, Tarmac rally wheel and tyres are 6 x Ford RS style alloy’s fitted with Yokohama A021R 185 60 13” tyres, Forest rally wheel and tyres are 6 x Ford RS style alloy’s fitted with Yokohama A035E 185 70 13” tyres

New picture taken today its finished now all thats left is to get an RAC MSA log book on it and let Total Vauxhall Magazine do its Feature when they come up on Saturday.

First ive seen of this page as well, but remember the mantas and the chevette from total vauxhall, all I can say is top work!! Can't beat the wide arched mantas.

Cheers for the comments boys, i have entered her into the 2nd event in Novemeber as well the Farrington Rally starting from Ruthin in North Wales so better start getting her ready for that one LOL !!!!!!!!!!!

where are you from? just that picture of the orange/white manta, looks like the one from retro cars first time around. my mates set up on the rollers, and i only know that as i was reading the magazine on monday, where it mentioned there name lol

Yeah it was the Boys down at A and B Garage in Hawarden that set up all my cars inc the Chevette.

Im out again with it a week next Saturday on the Farrington starting from Ruthin
