Re: Drizz Developments

Right ill start with the work done up the unit before the Land Rover update.

So i collected my new but used Spax adjustable suspension for the golf:

John 'creates' a centre console:

And starts getting it all back together:

I carry on building Spence's LET up:

With his new Billet mount:

John drills and taps the box for the linkage mount:

I fit the sandwich plate, new Vauxhall filter and cooler:

Then get it in position:

Then sat on its own mounts:

Then Johns Landy moves out on its own steam:

And we headed off for the MOT. For about 20 meters then it stops. No drive at all. Aparantly the gearbox oil pump has gone All back out again
Soooooo i fitted my Spax stuff. Front and rear before:

And front and rear after:

Somewhat lower lol:

It handles well, not bouncy or harsh and no rubbing. I set all the shocks the same so ill adjust them before work tomorrow and see the difference.

So moving on to last nights escapades. Sorry for the quality of the pics but it was my phone. Ill be taking the proper camera from now on.
We left home at half 6 and went to collect Paul and his range rover. We did a few lanes and stopped at the chippy for dinner:

And Scotts stickers:

Then we thought we'd go home via another couple of lanes when disaster struck!
Scott was driving along and all of a sudden dipped down and the rear wheel ended up in the air! So obviously i had to stop, then i sank LOL. All four wheels spinning, aven diff lock did bugger all. We all hung off it and rocked it to the extent the tyres were smoking. We tried but to no avail. Scott reversed and ended up like this:

I was in deep!

Then we gave up and called for help! David to the rescue:

Well he got me out, but i got Steve in the process LOL

But after we all got out, we headed back and because my road tyres were full of mud i had no control and ended up in a rutt. Stuck again! Good job David hadnt got far. Steve has pics of that which im sure he will post. Any way we finally got home at about half 12. What a night! Here it is today:

Ive now decided to invest in a 2" lift kit and a big old set of tyres. We think if i had them i wouldnt have got stuck. Another £500 to throw at it lol

Re: Drizz Developments

Right then today was a bugger! Plan was to go to work in the Disco so john could get on with removing his gearbox and then id go straight to the unit from work, load his old box up and head off to exchange it for the new one. But at 6am going along one of the lanes on the way to work i struck a rock and this was the result:

So thats two fooked wheels and tyres. Thank god i wasnt in the golf! So shopping for the new wheels and tyres began but unfortunately they wont arrive till wednesday, but anyway i left it and headed home. So the boss wasnt happy i couldnt make it to work (sorry Dad) but John was happy cos i could help him. So at 7 we cracked on:

Once out we seperated the transfer box:

So we loaded it in the Nurburg and headed to Luton:

Now big thanks to Ashcroft as they werent working today officially, but when we rung them at 8am and asked about a box he said he hasnt got one ready but he will get one of his staff in (they were all on a day off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) to refurb it before we get there! Top service and well recommended to any LR owner! So heres the box all fresh and new:

It came with a new torque convertor too all for £700 (exchange). We even got a guided tour of the company! He showed us their latest project. LR dont make a new 90 with an auto box. One of their customers wants theyre 2 new 60 editions to be converted to auto, so before even being registered they were delivered to Ashcrofts in an attempt to find a box to fit!!!!!!! They managed to modify a 2000 Disco 2 box to fit them:

Anyway we headed back via Burger King and got the box back home:

Got the TX box on:

And the Torque convertor in:

And craned it in place and bolted it up:

We lost light and enthusiasm after 13 hrs of work so jacked it in and came home via Pauls to borrow some wheels so we could recover the Disco. Anyway ill update tomorrow with more!

Looks like a 200TDI. 111bhp and a crapload of torque.

Land Rovers are awesome, I'd recommend one to anyone! My next build will be a 110 Defender.
