Re: Drizz Developments

Just looking back through this why did you put a auto in the defender? didn't think it would be too good for off road.

Re: Drizz Developments

So heres why the Disco broke down. The feed and return on the sender had corroded and literally fell off:

My wading kit turned up:

Then started on the axles. Wire brush and screw driver. They may not look clean but bear in mind id been up to the axles in mud:

And a sample of what came off 1/4 of the front axle. I got a little grubby lol:

Also my new tinted repeaters turned up for the Golf:

Re: Drizz Developments

Right my new sender turned up:

And fitted:

And she fired up, ran and revved. YAY!!!!!! So to help prevent premature rusting i undersealed it:

Steve turned up to lend a hand:

First coat done front and rear:

Another coat tomorrow. Brian checkout his boot floor today and the inevitable was there (or not in this case LOL):

No where near as bad as mine, but its started to eat away at his lol....

Re: Drizz Developments

So started on the wading kit today, got the old breathers off the axles and new unions on:

Then in the bellhousing:

Then in the cambelt housing:

Then started routing the breathers:

Steve started putting the second coat on the axles:

Then i made a way for the breathers to get to the snorkel. I love not having to worry about the car, its great :

Then made some gromits:

Then routed the breathers up the snorkel. Job done :

Steve got both axles painted again (Cheers fella!!!!):

Once theyve dried i can put the diff guards back on and then she's good to go!!!!

A wading kit does exactly what it says. Lets you wade through water!

Re: Drizz Developments

Well the Golfs gone! Made way for this:

Niggles are as follows:

1) You cant flash the headlights, new stalk needed
2) Fuel guage/Range indicator keeps packing up then coming on again (Sender maybe???)
3) Seatbelt ratchet very very slow (removal and regrease)
4) Headlight aim out (get it on the MOT bay for adjustment)
5) Exhaust rattle (replace with remus, de-cat and Facelift GSi backbox)
6) 5th gear is akward. Stick goes right too far (not quite sure how to sort that yet as reverse is ok)
7) Bumper loose and scuffed (booked into bodyshop next week)
8) No reverse lights (check bulbs and switch)
9) Damp boot (check lights and drains)
10) Gear Gaitor split (replace)
11) Rear bushes may have gone (feels wobbly on rear end)

I think thats it for now LOL

Re: Drizz Developments

Tonight i changed the stalk, adjusted the headlights, replaced some bulbs, changed the preface TC switch for a facelift one to match all the rest, took the rear light out to check its seal which seemed fine so ill have to investigate that further. I also took the fuel sender apart and got life from the guage, but now its even more random, so getting a new one on Monday. Also fitted my sub and amp, drilled the airbox, and changed the curb lights for working ones.
