I drove one the other week my mate is selling (R reg 12V one) and the 170bhp engine really was er.... ok.
(granted I may have been spoilt by the cav's performance making a really high bench mark).
I couldn't get excited about it or it's handling. I'm thinking that the only real way to get the enjoyment you should get out of a 2.8ltr engine is the supercharger or turbo route. Albeit you will never get away from it been a very heavy front end.
You done any handling mods on yours? Any recomendations? |

| Re: Drizz Developments Right now my house move is all done and dusted, work can resume. So today work continued. The estate is almost ready to go:
And Spence's GSi came in for a C20 LET conversion:
So i got cracking on it today:
So except the shafts its ready to lift out, so Monday ill get on that and build his LET engine up ready to go in. Got Johns Land Rover coming in for a manual to auto conversion on Monday too so ill report back then! |

| Re: Drizz Developments Well no progress on Spence's car today due to him forgetting to leave me the wheel key! But he delivered it tonight so i can do a few more bits tomorrow. So instead it was the Land Rover's turn.
So John starts dismantling:
Then my new neighbour turns up in his 350bhp S2 Avant:
Scott turns up and lends a hand:
And out:
John thinking about it:
And getting the manual box off:
The estate is gone:
Starts getting the torque converter on:
Steve lends a hand and rotates the crank pulley so john can get to all the bolts, but traps his finger and we all laugh:
More tomorrow! |

Those LR geaboxes are ****ing heavy with the hi/lo and 4x4 transfer boxes as seperate boxes.
Spent a good hour holding one up while my dad faffed around trying to get some bolts in.

| Re: Drizz Developments Well today the plan was to get the Landy done then move onto Spence's. So we begun with Emo welding in the new engine mounts:
The i fitted my new purchase. A Passatt steering wheel and airbag:
And after a clean up:
John got the new Auto box on the engine:
And primered where the old mounts were cut off and the new ones too:
Then we lifted it back in:
But the land rover forums lied! The measurements were wrong so its gotta come out again and the mounts moved again. So we didnt get round to carrying on with the LET conversion due to this but also because i had to go get my new toy
And here she is. A bargain at £400. Its practically mint for a Disco! |
