357bhp corsa turbo update

(thought i best post this up on here as its on other forums, owned the car about 3 weeks)

while the skylines off for its engine rebuild i decided to buy a winter car and something to use on the track in summer

spec.

corsa sport shell
bilstein suspension
v6 grooved front brakes
fully re condition rear brakes
speedline allesio's in white with new tyres
full gsi bodykit
twin morrette headlights
smooth scuttle pannel
fully stripped out
2 cobra manaco bucket seats
sparco 3 point harnesses
safety devices rear cage
omp rear strut brace
suade d shaped steering wheel and momo boss
pioneer mids crossovers and tweeters,
pioneer headunit
2.0 16v c20xe engine
twin 45 webber carbs
arp rod bolts
f20 gearbox
new clutch
full chris astley fitting kit
big inner and outer cv joints
big hubs

heres a couple of quick pics how i bought it but i have added the lights and gsi kit a few days after it arrived

then fitted some fk coilovers and braided hoses

went to the scrappers and got a saxo power steering pump, pipes, res bottle and wiring

also dug out my old corsa gsi rack, new track rod ends and check the fancy fittings out lol

plan is to fit an electronic power steering pump instead of a belt driven one.

relocate battery and mount pump where the battery normally is, then pipe it up and away

another quick job done, bit of weight saving

then my new centre cap stickers came so off with the old on with the new

had the xe with 45's setup then got offered a cali turbo cheap for the engine so the c20xe t45 hadto go, quick way to waste 140 quid at mikeanics!!

heres the gash barry boys calibra that some bloke had aparently spent 20k on! think he was robbed dont you? o well i soon robbed the engine lol

engine out!!!

stripped the engine down completely ready to freshen up, only to find steel h section conrods, mahle 86.5mm low compression pistons and arp bolts, the head is also fitted with courtenay sport camshafts, looks like the guy who sold it me was not lying and he has spent some serious ££££

just done some purchasing

new ball joints x2

f28 6 speed gearbox mount

nice front mounted intercooler

couple of reducers and some joiners

f28 2wd kit

should arrive off the good old bay in the next week

also on ordered

z20let steel headgasket
cambelt kit (square tooth)
head bolts
metal exhaust manifold gasket
inlet manifold gasket
rocker cover gasket
8v rubber sump gasket and baffle plate
water pump

ordered some poly bushes to do abit of stiffening up from http://www.flo-flex.co.uk/

next on the list of things to do

degrease block
gegrease 6 speed box
paint box and block
clean top of pistons
clean bottom of valves
clean sump
clean the head
cut pulley holes out of the cambelt cover
get cambelt and rocker cover powder coated white
have the bottom arms, tie bars, tie bar brackets blasted and powder coated
make 6 speed gear linkage
fit all gaskets/pumps and start rebuilding

update for today 25/01/2008

heres a picture of the pistons, rods and arp's, and a before/after clean also shows the 86.44 pistons so there has been a +5 overbore at some stage.

heres a standard conrod end

heres mine with arp bolts

pic of down the rods, and another pic of the mahle low comp piston

dirty gearbox,

degreased gearbox

re sprayed gearbox

degreased block

painted block

start rebuilding the engine tomorrow.

Awsome find on the engine, you need a lightweight flywheel for that!!

I never thought I'd be pleased to see a Calibra killed, but I am Good job.

If you fancy a labour swap let me know - I could help you out one weekend in return for some help on mine sometime

I can't get any powdercoating at the minute fella, but you could try Goldberry Powdercoaters in Ilkeston (don't have a number sorry)

looks good mate, I did exactly the same thing as you with my TB'd 2.0 16V corsa. Fitted the saxo PAS pump where the battery is and relocated the battery to the boot. Was a pretty easy mod and worked really well. I fitted it on a switch so I could turn it off for drag racing etc and save power.

then made some stiffer engine mounts using some tiger seal
