Eveything except the windows and tyres are prone to rot on Nova's.

Common places are;

Boot floor,
Rear chassis rails,
Front chassis rails,
Rear arches,
Lower section of front wings (and inner wings),
Door bottoms,
Cross member,
Front panel,
Battery tray,
Engine bay seams.

etc.

If you can find anywhere to jack it up

They do go everywhere, all you can do is have a really good poke around.

and the a reg shells are better made, but if its been unlooked after and dumped fort ages she might well be rotten to the hilt.

Is that fact benn?

Earlier shells dont rot as bad? Im considering a re-shell and was looking at late ones so would i be better with an early mk1?

Yeah y-a-b reg shells are made of better steel, so they dont rot as bad,
You can get a reg shells with no rot on at all, but if they've been abused then they'll rot but slower..

Id rather restore a rotten A reg nova than a similarly rotten K reg one... the early novas were made with better quality steel and they didnt feck about with seam sealer so its easy to repair them.

and wayne, if unused the tyres rot too lol

under neath the rear lights at the drain plugs are prone to rot, along with the headlight panel

Worst areas IMO are the rear chassis legs (box sections that run either side of fuel tank to back of car) & poke behind the rear dampers, fr chassis legs can go too (look under front wheel arches) also suspension turets (under fr arches again), check battery tray as this if rotten will leak into the dashboard & onto your feet. Most of the other rot will be visible like sills & wheel arch lips etc.

My mum had a Y reg nova up to 2000. Body work weren't too bad (arches just started blistering IIRC), though it had to be scrapped because we couldn't get the engine running right. Doing 90 down to cornwall didn't help the 1.2 carb.
