Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

Decided to do a simple job that has been on the to do list for yonks but was always afraid to do it until i read just how easy it was. Ever since i got my blue LED's in my dash the milometer has been impossible to read during the day due to an orange plate that sits in front of the LCD.

So first part was easy enough, remove the gauge binnicale out of the car, couple of T20 torx screws and remove the surrounds and viola its out. Started taking it all apart....

5 T10 torx screws on the back and it was almost completely apart...

Once the circuit board bit was off it was easy to get at the orange cover....

here's the offending part out, oh and my foot.....

Chucked it all back together to get to the fiddly part, resetting the gauges. Was a pain in the arse taking the needles off and on until they sat at 0 but finally got there, but note to self for future reference to clean hands before doing this as white dials are easy to mark. But end result is this....

Hazaar, blue and easily readable!!

Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

Have finally found my phone cable so i can update this after my recent transplant. Out with the old Z20LET and F23, and in with the nearly new (3000miles) Z20LEH and M32 gearbox. The difference from this is mainly down to the gearbox at the moment as im still using the LET ECU with the eds phase 1 map on it. So once thats sorted and my bigger AFM and injectors are on then power should be much much better. Having the sixth gear makes it so much nicer on the motorway. Anyway here's some piccy's, afraid i don't have any of it going in as i didn;t do the work

And here's the all important gearstick

Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

Had a little bit of a job to do with my front anti roll bar drop links, as they were proper funked. They were a complete pain in the arse to sort out as they were rusted to buggery. But off they came after so old school smashing

here's the difference between new and old, as i said, funked.

I cut the old one in half, it wasn't that bad . New one on...

other one off to, equally shagged....

Job done then and now more noise when going over bumps or turning, hazaar.

Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

Still waiting for my nortech inlet to arrive so got around to doing another job that has been waiting for ages. Decided to sort out my oil catch tank, my previous attempt at baffling the inside to condense the gases with some wire wool ended with lots of rusty wire wool and brown sludge so i tried a different route today. Couldn't find any mesh so improvised and made my own sort of filter/condensor. Took the top of the WD40 pen i had and drilled loads of small holes in it, then araldited it to the inlet pipe inside the tank, should work alright hopefull and being plastic no rust.

Whilst i had it off i thought it was looking a tad on the minging side so got the wet and dry out and gave it a going over and clean up. Had some primer and satin black spray lying around so got busy with the rattle cans and sprayed it up.

Job done, also going to do the inlet like this whenever it arrives.

Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

Wanted to fit the M32 six speed gearbox and VXR turbo, which i had already bought. But when weighed up against aquiring the remain parts to do it against just stripping a smashed VXR and nicking everything out of that and getting the new engine too. Z20LEH is a stronger engine than my Z20LET was.

Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

My stack AFR gauge arrived this morning so got busy this afternoon. First thing first was to get the car up on an axle stand and remove the old innovate sensor that was still plumbed in.

then start ripping apart the dash and to run the wiring through. eh viola a pile of parts

[IMG]http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/mattyboy639/Image036.jpg[/IMG

Thought i'd use the same points i've used for the spa oil gauge so re soldered it all together so everything had power

Then the arm hurting part getting the wire up the side of the dash. It was a bit of a pain as there wasn't much room after having the cable's for the other gauge there. Got there in the end though.

didn't get a decent pic of it all back together unfortunately as it got dark fairly quickly and had the to pick the missus up. got a crappy dark one though.

So whilst out i could see what was going on. So first run, idles fine at around 14.5 to 15.0, roughly the same when trundling along but when moving along and taking off the accelerator it goes lean as a mofo, past 16. Goes fine again as soon as you put your foot down again, not sure if this is normal. When gunning it though it went down to 11.2 so im guess that alright, bit rich when hoofing it.

Don't take this as gospel but I believe what you're seeing is fine (someone with greater knowledge I'm sure will confirm).

Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

It will be lean (probably very) when your foot isn't on the accelerator, as your relatively normal map will not be injecting any fuel on over-run.

Re: Matt's Coupe Turbo

What's it running when giving it some? IIRC turbos need to run richer than N/A engines.

I think ideal is somewhere around 12:1??

Its only when giving it some that it goes that rich. When im cruising on the motorway it sits at 14-15 so perfect, get good mileage from my car now.
