Washer bottle is a nice ideaIts a mk2 fiesta bottle btw.
Think iveco turbo daily vans have them aswell
well got my brakelines started today amidst a hangover haze. got the fronts piped up ready for the engine to go in, just need to get some p clips to hold the line across the bulkhead and i need to get a blank for the unused rear cylinder as im only running one line to the rear, for hydraulic hand brake then Ting it off at the back.
also theres a male/female joint at the bulkhead but im thinking i may remake the line to rear as a one piecer and use a suitable grommet at the bulkhead and run the line under the seat mount crossmember. will be ordering a 7/16th UNF fitting for the handbrake cylinder, and a 3 way T piece tomoro so will decide what to do when it all arrives.
also modified my handbrake a wee bit, time will tell how it will perform. got a pin thru the ratchet mech to allow it to "fly-off" just need to get a retaining spring mounted up. dont know how well my quick grab bicycle seat tube extension will stand up either...

Lines look tidy! Was looking at C20NVA's (from png) nova today, and he's running a single line to the rear on a std M/C, so may be able to advise on which outlet/size rstrictor is best to use
Graet project you have there, I've just read it for the first time just now! Amazing! It makes me want another nova!!!
Good work.
How do MOTers fair with the hydraulic handbrake? do you still run a cable aswell I take it?
cheers dell, will probs take it up to the island for a "bedding in" run when its done so you may well see it.
simps - altho the hydraulics will be doing the lions share of the work, the standard cables will still be fitted and operational so will be absolutely fine for mot (and scrutineering)
found a random union this afternoon, its pretty big, not sure if its the one you need. Will drop it in 2moro with ure braided flexi.
the car has an engine!!!!!
pics tomoro when i get batteries for the camera. exciting times up here the now!
Kenny just fount this thread and read it all the way through. top car your building there mate! well done. can you tell me, what harness eyelet mountings have you used? are they welded to the underside of the car? or is it a bolt holding them in place? is it these ones?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Harness-backin...d=p3286.c0.m14
keep up the good work mate
ste
cheers steve.
my eyebolts are mounted into similar plates for the fixings under the seats and the rear parts are into the standard rear seatbelt fixings. those plates you show are the ideal type, slightly wider than my ones.
right then, engine fitted (about bloody time i hear you say)
now i just gotta plumb it in and sort out all the engine wiring, and the wiring in the dash... im hoping it looks worse than it is...
also gotta change that temporary fuse box for this...
will hold all my fuses and 4 relays nice and neatly, with no exposed wiring![]()
love the rocker cover and sump! but blocksome black hammerite at least.
Did you get ure new top spring seats machined? ohh and i spy a new addition to the drivers wing
paint will just make it heavier! i scraped all the **** off it is that not enough for you???? haha
hopefully sort out my coolant gallery tomoro night
going to assess if i can use the steel gallery to save trying to put bungs in the plastic one (from removal of heater) the mounts dont line up but hey ho not much on this car has so far so im not letting that stop me. if the hoses are going to be a bugger i may jsut use the plastic one...
can anyone label where all the hoses run to on the plastic gallery? its the standard 14xe gallery.
Good to see it starting to come together Kenny keep up the good work, im busy trying to sort a sequential box at the min so my box maybew coming up for sale in October.
engine looks good mate, what inlet you going for? like the idea of the harness eyelet mountings. they make sence. gonna swap mine to them. easier to fit aswell by the looks of it as they don't need welding in.
ste
done quite a bit of work over the past few nights with the help of gary and my pal calum.
sorted out my lower inlet, blanking off all the EGR stuff, fitted my header tank and plumbed in the engine, used my plastic water gallery in the end, didnt even need to blank anything off, just bypassed the heater matrix by running a hose from gallery to inlet.
next job was alternator, couldnt find a Vbelt pulley for this engine so decided to stick with multirib. solid mounts and a big hammer = win.
cut a slot in the chassis leg then battered the leg in, and garyboy welded it up/tidied it up. rather him than me with the engine in place...
here you can see the result of the bashing, actually took a bloody good shape purely by chance. (alt is currently just resting in pic, pulley will be in middle of the bash!)
and from above showing the clearance from the leg, i make it to be about 20mm. so hopefully the solid mounts will hold it.
next job is change my front engine mount bracket, engine is sitting forward and i think i must have used a corsa bracket...gary has a nova bracket for me anyway, will get it soon. after that i need to make an alternator tensioning bracket, gonna use the nova slotted system as all the means of tensioning the xe (power steering etc) are no more. so a slotted bracket and bare belt it is.
tonights job was meant to be wiring in the engine and connecting the nova and corsa looms, but....
my neighbour the plumber was in doing some work on a tank in the loft and he found my old lego, so i had to take a look. 4 hours later, the nova is still the same as yesterday and i have gained this little beauty
just made it up as i went along, engine is driven off the rear axle!
much success!

wiring can eat my ass.
bodge.
it.
and.
scarper.
as much as its doing my f*cking t*ts in i am making baby steps every day. maybe one day i'll get another loom and start again with more knowledge and just make it all much neater.
also, whats this wire from the x14xe engine loom? had a tab on it saying battery + if that helps
![]()
is it a green wire with a black sheath over it?? (ive no idea by the way) Your wiring has been a bit of a nigtmare, but your getting there.
are you not using a standard car loom and engine loom?
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "f*ck, what a trip!"
nope, im using a modified nova loom and a modified set of corsa looms. i might be better to cut my losses and just get a whole set of corsa looms and use them, theres not alot of nova loom left anyway...
