Like the dash dude looks very cool. Cards are nice.

I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
not been up to much with this lately. swapped the bonnet and prepped it for a respray as per:
also, bought the corsa runaround some new wheels just for a laugh. didnt think for a minute they would fit (the rears are 9inch wide) but shockingly they do, and only rub on BIG bumps. will lower it 30mm and paint the wheels a similar grey to the plastic trims, will also do the grill and badge on the front the same shade.

have you used some crazy hub adaptors?
Not liking the tyre stretch on the back but I love those wheels :P
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "f*ck, what a trip!"
cheers al and benn.
yeah its got adaptors, came from a mk2 golf. i beleive its a company called dubsport that they were bought from but that is second hand info and could well be wrong!
as an aside, theyve not fallen off yet! and one centre cap is missing but turns out land rover discovery centres are almost an exact match so got one to go on...
right then back to the nova.
been ill so the shell is still sat outside in all its multicoloured glory. should hopefully get it inside and ready to go to garys for paint over the weekend.
while the garage was empty i got the loom out. at first i hated wiring but its almost making sense now and i think im making progress! altho its not the neatest loom ever as ive had to move alot of things and cut/lengthen wires all over the shop.
ive removed all the engine and ecu wiring from the main loom, as i will use the corsa engine loom and plug it into the main loom a la corsa style in the drivers footwell. most of the wires for the plug are coiled up at the plug for the dash clocks wating to be run thru and wired to the plug.
the new fusebox (temporary until i order a holder that takes blade fuses and spade connectors) which will sit infront of passenger seat, also put the relays over here and they will mount beside the fuses.
heres the back end of the car wiring, seperated the lighting circuits from the fuel pump wiring (which will be doubled up so as to be able to switch between pumps on the go should one fail), in this pic we also have the wiring that will go to the engine bay from the passenger side, theres the heater fan/rad wiring in one branch, wiper motor and brake fluid res indictor wiring in another and the washer bottle wiring has moved to the passengers footwell.
just another shot of the various seperate branches going to engine bay or rear of the car, also shows the battery +ve lead which will need extending to the rear floor and a switched live for the rad fan waiting to be run to the fusebox.
the dash panels that will house it all, fuses and relays on the left, toggle switches on the right and the FIA masterswitch will mount below them.
corsa engine loom and ecu. the next stage of the project!
other bits still do on the wiring:
make plug for corsa engine loom to main car loom
replicate the fuel pump wiring for spare pump
run all switches to the dash
make seperate loom for lamp pod
wire up fia cut out
make horn loom, connected to switched live with 2 switched earths, for driver (wheel or dash) and passenger footwell
wire up relay for heated screen.
im sure there will be bits ive missed but that might give some people an insight into what ive been doing. still a long way to go and MUCH tidying of wires to do yet![]()
also if anyone has any comments/criticism/suggestions for the wiring please do discuss! as im still very much finding my feet with the subject.
anything that makes another part of the puzzle click into place is a good thing in my book.
p.s. i know its no neat but i took my time to avoid crossed wires, and all joints are soldered, taped, heatshrinked and taped again to be sure!!
wiring is simple enough, just have to be utterly methodical and only do each one once. Dont half do it and tape ends together thinking youll come back and solder them later. Try to keep colours the same if you extend anything.
On the flipside its hard on your hands and its a horrible sticky nasty job. I removed the engine wiring from my 1.2i loom in situ![]()

ive got the male plug for your engine loom, ie the Car side of it, (with a note of the colours) Will probably see you 2moro some time
appeal time!
the car is going for paint on thursday and i still dont have a slam panel and headlight surrounds. been let down by suppliers telling me at the 11th hour that nobody makes them anymore but i dont believe that...
so im in real need of a slam panel. new or VGC off a crashed shell or anything really!
who has one?
if i dont have one by tuesday i'll take measurements off garys shell and make my own but it wont look as good
Have you tried Hadrian panels ?
http://www.beeversautopanels.co.uk/
Have you tried there?
gary bought one off ebay today for me, seeing as how im ebay-aly challenged.
dont know when it will arrive but its gonna be better than my home made effort!
got a slam panel.
...oh and by the way
IT IS PAINTED!!! glacier white all over and looking amazing, spray booths and devillbiss guns for the win, as they say on the internet (to coin a phrase from gary the paint man)
fao garyvaux: from the first post in this thread!! haha
finishing bodywork and interiors to a high standard just doesnt do it for me
looks like gary made a nice job of that!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "f*ck, what a trip!"
cheers al, turned out pretty well considering the "roughcast" textured primer (the gun we used couldnt cope with the thick high build primer so was spitting and not spraying even.
but once flatted, the top coat went on pretty well. pics dont really show the shine of the paint that well.
the car is taking shape now. the shell is now complete and finished as is all bodywork and trim!
made myself a nice lightweight solution for the tow eye.
fitted my seat and harnesses, probably fitted the drivers seat rails a bit far back, but i like to sit right back anyway so its fine for myself. harnesses are excellent too
redesigned the whole dash and re flocked it. its just a bare shell, nothing behind it
then i stringed in my heated screen! think i may put some wee tabs over it to safe it popping out but that can be done later.
inside shot showing dash/cage/seat/screen. need to work out what to do with them wires coming from the screen now!
to finish it off, fitted my bonnet pins and sorted (ish) my grill. i think it look excellent now! very mean!
now to get it up on stands and strip all the rolling gear off it and start fitting the real bits![]()
Looking good keep it up, cant wait to see it playing out!!
well kev im in the process of sorting the suspension out now, need to get the bilstein sleeve nuts turned down to fit the bearing on my top mounts, also need to find a rear beam. the one i have is for radial mount calipers (and thus no handbrake) so i'll prob just try for a modified beam using astra bits. after that i jsut need all fuel and brake lines, engine and gearbox.
aim is to drive it at the tail end of summer!
no progress of late, car is banished to the drive. to cut a long story short, the car is in my parents garage and they have been left a load of furniture so the garage looks a bit like this...
only thing thats happened lately is that i bought some wheels. 15x6 compomotive THs (O.Z stickers have been added at somepoint...)
i think they go perfectly with the car, not that that really matters but its nice to look nice sometimes
also purchased a new run about, will make a grand wee service van(cant tow much tho...) plan is to use it for collecting parts to stop wrecking the corsa, and it has potential to actually look pretty sweet
will get it lowered, maybe colour code some bits that sorta thing
![]()
liking the wheels, you could always persuade gary to blow them over?
Liking the van too! LMAO at not wrecking the corsa by buying a 56 plate van tho! What engine is in it?
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "f*ck, what a trip!"
1.7 cdti
gary took it home from ayrshire for us and says it runs sweet as a nut
i didnt know it was a 56 plate till i got there, was cheap cheap so i bought it, want a corsa?
