cheers paul, figured the CCL was the best option. better than holding a pair of pliers on the floor and standing on them! didnt know you were up this way, what were you up for? only been in dunoon a couple of times myself and only to the depot once. cheers for the van comments your astra is coming on well too.

    Re: A Nova toy

Haha! We were up a while ago for a first aid course then we had to go up again cos one of the guys at our depot made a switching error and there was a whole big investigation about it. And cos i was on that job with him i had to go to! Total waste of time but it meant a good skyve for a day! Haha! Chhers for comments bout the astra, i took some time of work to clean it all up! Its off the road aain rite now tho, it isnt getting a spark and we think weve sourced it bak to a burst wire in the wiring loom, but baisically my wiring loom is totally sh**ged. So im tryin to source a new one now that hasnt been cut or messed about with!

    Re: A Nova toy

today i lowered the van! also straightened up the wonky rear mudflaps and painted the drums black.

    before:

    after:

im sure everyone will agree it desperately needed lowered! used eibach sportline -50/-30 kit, just about to go for a wee spin and see how it feels

next job for the van is to fit the predator pads i picked up, once i get a pair of discs

NIce, looks a LOT better now.

Let me know how you get on with the predators, looked at them and decided against them for the nova cos Id never heard of anyone else using them :P

    Re: A Nova toy

well managed a bit of progress lately.

now got all the difficult wiring sorted so just a couple of 2 second jobs to do and still to wire in the plug for the immobiliser transponder when i find a car to cut one off of! also gary has made me an EXCELLENT inlet box which i cant thank him enough for. some sneak pics below.

theoretically all i need to do before i can start it is:

    1. (find and) fit the JIC fittings for the fuel rail and jubillee some hose onto them from the copper pipes thru the car (temporary to get things going)

    2. wire in transponder plug

    3. check coolant hoses and fill

    4. engine and gearbox oil

    5. position throttle cable bracket on inlet

    6. fit fuel filler neck and fill with petrol

plus a few other minor bits and bobs which i wont bore you with, the main jobs are up there. still plan to have it going before xmas but there wont be any more money getting spent on it till january so if anything is faulty etc it wont be replaced and plans will be pushed back. sorry for the essay heres some pics

    Re: A Nova toy

just spent the last whoever knows how long reading the project thread from start to finish, very impressive Kenny given me some motivation to get my Autotest/Road Rally Nova finished. Cash is very short coming up to Christmas though can you still get hold of Yoko 539s? I've heard they ceased production

    Re: A Nova toy

The inlet has now been painted aswell, looks really cool. The dimensions were a bit of a gamble as i couldnt trial fit it, but it clears everything

The base of it was matched to the gasket, and the inside belmouthed to help flow (the two parts were then welded together)
Placing the gasket onto the std lower inlet showed there was quite alot of material to be removed for the powerbox/gasket/lower inlet to all match, so that was done too.

Wasnt exactly scientific, but im sure will give gains over std

anyone going to the scrappies this weekend? fancy cutting me off a plug from a corsa sport transponder? (the box and ring round the ignition barrel) no scrapyards near here and my wanted ad on corsasport fell on its arse.

anyone willing would be reimbursed with some beer tokens

    Re: A Nova toy

they are actually compomotive THs, i bought them with the stickers on. having said that if i ever refurbed them i would almost certainly have the stickers re-done as they really set the wheels off!

the genuine works GM Eurosport OZ alloys are either ****ed or super expensive these days it seems, altho they'll all be about 20 years old now so no shame on them.
