| The cylinder in the golf calipers is better suited to the nova. Astra's are a tad to big leading to the back locking up. |

| Which can be avoided if you use the bias valves from the GTE 16v mastercylinder.
Are you transplanting in the mk2 Golf handbrake lever & cable mechanism?
I saw some pics of a Nova with this installed & thought it looked really trick!

| Not much of an update. Car was taken down to my mates bodyshop last week to have the shell finished. EVERY pannel is being removed and replaced with carbon and the cage is getting finished (semi space frame) a hoop is being made to hang the engine from along with tie bars. The rear is getting and independant setup fabricated. Going to look similar to the golf in the pics below. Will get some pics up when work commences.
Ive nearly finished the engine just waiting for the dry sump to come from martyn bowyer. Need to order my diff so i can get the box finished.
made a start on removing the breathers and oil filler from my cam cover due to not needing them because of the dry sump.
Started like this:
Removed the plate with the breather on from the underside of the cover by drilling the rivets:
Removed this with the angle grinder (going to use this piece as a test piece for welding not sure what it will weld like being die cast):
I then clamped it up on the bridgeport and milled off the excess ally:
This is as far as ive got, will make some plates up on monday and hopefully fire up the dc set and get it welded up.
Going to turn down some blanks for the holes on the block i.e dipstick
Not much of an update really. Just trying to get parts together. |

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor Still no major updates, ordered my solid engine mounts, trans x diff with f20 side gears, equal length shafts and stack ST8100 dash and loom
Waiting for the steel tube to arrive can hopefully start some bending soon. |

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor Got some new bits but still no steel tube
Pace motorsport 5ltr oil tank, with 110v oil pre heater. Quality is second to non. Also can split to allow for cleaning.
Stack dash and loom with, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp and fuel pressure sensors

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor Made a start on fitting the diff and new seals. Cant finish it yet due to not having the final drive bolts!
Take 1 straight cut gearbox
A 4:18 final drive
And a tran x diff with f20 side gears so i can run equal length shafts
And a seal/gasket kit
Remove turret from box
Next remove the gears. Some of you may notice that the end of the box isnt the same as most f13's. Thats due to it being an f10 ge****t in the f13 casing. Had to do this as the f10 casing isnt suitable for the 1600. |

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor This is where the pinion gear lives
Remove the c clip and press the pinion gear on
Next was to replace the seal behind the clutch
Knocked the seal out using a 20mm socket on an extension bar
New and old
Next was the diff seals, knocked these out with a 35mm socket like so..
Done
Thats as far as i got need to modify the turret to take the straight to box linkage. As soon as i get the bolts will get the diff in and stick all new gaskets on the box |

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor Modified the turret.
From this
Removed this
Added this
Now looks like this
Made myself a tool for tightning the diff nut, made a blanking plug for the hole where the speed sender lived and did bit more on my cam cover. Heres a few pics:
From this
To this
Sender plug made from aluminium
Voila
Made a fixture for my cam cover so that i can weld the piece of ally in level, also elongated the whole as its easier too make a plate.
Just drilled and tapped a piece of 10mm steel. Used m8 bolts to hold eiher end down and three m8's to level the plate up. Simple
Cracked up the AC tig set. Now looking like this....
Just wants the welds polishing out, holes drilling and painting. |

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor Converted the clutch to hydraulic slave
Removed the fork, bar and cable release and replaced with a vectra slave cylinder. The holes on the hydraulic slave wanted opening about 1mm and used longer bolts.
Supply to slave
Used the tig to weld up the servo take off on the manifold
Then opened up the ports on the inlet to match the gasket as the cylinder head has also been matched.
Before
After
Cylinder head (excuse the crappy photo)
Heres a photo of the inlet on port 4. Smoooth
Waiting for my new studs and nuts from vaux so i can bolt the inlet side of things on. Iv also been stripping dow the taperd bodys and cleaning them up. Sat down and wrote down my full engine spec:
Bottom end
SBD dry sump kit
Ultra light fly wheel
SBD multi vee pulley with crank sensor
ARP rod bolts
Steel con rods
Omega 80.00 mm forged pistons
SBD steel idler rollers
Cometic 1.3mm laminated metal head gasket
SBD starter motor
Top end
ARP head stud kit
Ported and polished cylinder head
SBD Titanium valve cap
SBD valve spring platform
Bronze valve guides
SBD double valve springs
SBD solid cam followers
SBD underground shims
Pair of SBD/Kent 295 degree, with 11.60mm lift cam shafts
SBD/Kent vernier pulleys
SBD/Jenvey inlet manifold
SBD/Jenvey Taper throttle body kit with 90mm trumpets
SBD fuel rail
Peco cream injectors
MBE 967 engine management
SBD wiring harness
SBD ultra small alternator and mounting kit
Modified cam cover for dry sump system
BTB exhaust manifold
Im unsure whether to sell one of the 295 cams and buy the 11.90mm/Lift 300 degrees duration?
Any body running this setup? Comments?
Thanks for looking |

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor Looking forward to see what power you get from this, Im currently running a C16XE on hydraulics 288 cams, Jenvey TBs, Omex 600,head ported polished, full competiton exhaust, standard pistons with pocket ARPs, revving to 7600 it around 170bhp at the flywheel, feels pretty good and had some reasonable results with this setup.
Looking at yor spec its pretty much what im thinking of going for without the dry sump.
What sort of power and torque are you hoping to get? |

| Re: My WIP 1600 16v Track motor looks good, like the cam top, did you do anything to the input shaft seal on the hydraulic slave cylinder? the one that is in the slave as stock is too big a diameter for the small block input shaft and will leak onto the cutch
