Re: 1.6 TURBO Conversion

Red hose returns oil to the sump, make sure to make one nearly before where the sump gasket goes,(almost top off the sump). The braided is for oil takem from the oil pump in and then to oil the shaft, the hole was for the pyrometer(EGT)so tap hat with a bolt,Now the actuator, put a small hose from there,to the other bronze kinda look that you are pointing,so 25cm silicone hose from actuator to the other one.If you ever want to boost more(after bedding in the engine)just split that hose and fit the bit to raise boost(manual) i used to be on AVCR.

Re: 1.6 TURBO Conversion

Rite started to build up the head tonight, i have put the hyradulic valve lifters in and i just lightly lubed them with oil to make and dropped them into place ( lookin at pic) i presume this is the right thing to do????

As regards to just giving my engine a quick once over to see if i have done everything ok is there any1 tht lives in west yorkshire that wouldnt mind taking a look at it. And to briefly explain how to do the timing etc???? would be a great help

Re: 1.6 TURBO Conversion

More progress made today, engine really starting to come together now.

Today recieved a New Cometic Head Gasket, Water Pump, Head Bolts and Cam Shaft Bolts.

And here is what it is looking like at present.....

Just a few things that i want to check up on thou (Aris guidence needed lol).........

From this picture you can see the oil feed line, obviosly i need to take it from the oil pump, but i just need to know where abouts, shall i take it from where that grub screw is (my thumb) ?????

And also Aris did you run the return straight into the sump, like so....

Re: 1.6 TURBO Conversion

ive been watchin your build mate, and i found this info for you:

So, what now? Well, as has been mentioned a few times there are 2 blanking plugs in the main oil gallery to the rear of the oil pump. the first of the holes is used for the turbo oil feed on LET engines, and once the stud is removed its M14x1.5 thread (again!)

Re: 1.6 TURBO Conversion

Find an adaptor with a T-piece to screw in between the pump body & the oil pressure switch.

Get the threads measured/sized & approach a pipe specialist. Maybe look on ebay for something. Pretty sure a lad on PNG used a Cosworth part for his oil feed.

Re: 1.6 TURBO Conversion

I will have to look around for a T piece, i really cant see why i cannot use that what i am pointing at?? it only has a blanking bolt on it, i took it out last night and measured it. Was an m19 thread, surly it can be run straight to that, it is the closest thing and i wouddnt have to run the feed from the otherside of engine where the sensor plug is
