My LET conversion is almost finished (pics)

I've been doing this conversion for the past couple of months, working on it whenever I had time to do so. The car originally had a 1.4 16v engine, then a 1.6 16v, followed by 2 C20XE's as the first one spun the bottom pulley bolt at 7k rpm! After becoming a bit bored of standard XE power I decided to install this beauty- a C20LET engine with 72k and loads of service history which I picked up from Rich (C20LETMINI on here) who is actually the LET king! Seriously though I've never actually seen so many LET engines on residential property!

Anyway, I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Hope the pics work, I've not used this host before!

Comments obviously welcome.

Cheers,

Nathan

Thanks for the comments guys. I've spent a shed load of money and it's been a nightmare at times but I'm really happy with the end result, just aching to drive it now!

I think you're very eccentric taking an XE out of a Corsa and fitting it to an Intergra.

Some would say the Integra's engine is up to the job you know.

Steve- LET's cost ALOT of money dude, I don't think Rich would give you one......especially not if it was going in a BMW!!

The DC5 ITR in that pic is my friends new motor. He had it imported from Japan so had to wait about 3months for it but he's been smiling ever since and he got it over a month ago!! (any face cramp gen??)

Obviously it's got a JDM spec K20 engine so makes about 220bhp (20bhp more than our CTR's K20 engine) and comes with an lsd gearbox as standard. I've been in it a fair few times now and it's quick in a straight line but excells through the twisties, it's got a brilliant chassis and awesome Brembo 4pots on the front. I can't wait to give him a woopin on the straights but through the lanes I don't think I'll stand a chance!

Thumbs up

She's a beaut mate, what more can be said. Is there anything more mechanically sexy than a big engine in a little car? I think not.

Nath helped me with my XE conversion, and has several times since cos he's a good lad(!!), and it was really good to be able to return the favour really.

Anyway, back on subject, I'm jealous, envious and so on and so on . Nice job mate, what more can be said? Can't wait to see it on the road - and not sounding like a southbound freight train (due to lack of exhaust). Watch out world is all I say!!

Rich(C20LETMINI) Has been known to get hold of a LET or twenty now and again.

Dude.

I know it's not what you want to hear. But that bodykit... does it no favours at all.

LET looks very nice though.

Looks a good job, all new and shiney, till its first journey on UK roads. Is it standard apart from the intercooler?

Jack- I know I know but it's a bit late now eh mate!? I'm gonna replace the bumper next spring when the bank balance has recovered and I'll probably sell it then.....I really want a Corsa GSi or Sport with standard bodywork and powered by either another LET or an XE on TB's.

Matt- thanks dude, I know it's gonna get dirty but at least I've got pics of it clean Yeh it's standard apart from the intercooler and exhaust system. I've got a Forge actuator and plans for phase 2 chips in the near future but ideally want an LSD first.

I know how you feel i once had a shiney engine bay, but got sick of cleaning the damn thing every ten minutes so made it standard looking instead. Should be a bit of a weapon though.

I have thought of doing that but its a bit of a waste of money and alot of the "bodykit" is moulded on so can't just unbolt and replace with standard items. I do somewhat regret having the work done but I was young and it appealed to me at the time! Since joining MIG I've become far more performance orientated, hence my desire to own a standard looking Corsa GSi/Sport with an LET or highly tuned XE

It does actually look ok in the flesh, its just the damage that lets it down, with no room for absorbtion of vibrations and **** its bound to crack and split ...

At least you have realised the errors of your ways.

Engine looks like you could eat off it! good work

Shame about the damge though, but at least you are swaying away from bodykits and become more performance conscious
