Nova sport restore project!

Hello,
My brother purchased this recently,

Has been fully restored bodywise but not finished due to time,
The previous owner has had it in the family for last 8 years and had it handed down from his brother,
He has been restoring it for the last 4 years,

Anyway it was up for sale and a deal was done, so seeing as it was such a nice day we cracked on with it,

Although it has had a full respray already theres a few marks in the engine bay and a slight bit of peeling on the front panel,

Engine isnt as clean as id like it either as the last owner ran out of time so was just trying to put it all together as quickly as possible,

So thought it rude not to pull it all out and start again!

as we started just taken irmscher airbox off,

cleared all the junk out of the back

jacked it up

engine again

coming out

out

disassembly

bare bay

back on wheels riding high!!!

stripping more

and the mess of the interior, wires city!!!

going to get the bay and the front panel and valence painted again and a few of the grommet holes welded up as im going to hide the wiring loom,

Love the cra is great to own such a rare model cant wait to get started on cleaning the negine up ready to go back in,

Have plenty of time tomorow so will be more progress then!

thats all for now!

not a clue, when i was there, fuel pump wouldn't work - tried direct live to it
think the relay wasn't working too, as we tried that on my nova, and it wouldn't fire with it..

so couldn't really do any other problem solving till we had replacements..

cant remember the other troubles daz had though..

UPDATE

well after a night on the lash i was slow starting today but started work around 12pm,
weather was lovely so cracked on,

Removed a few more items from the engine bay ready for painting and marked all the areas i want seeing to when it goes for paint,
im going to totally smoth the firewall of all of the little divits and get the holes welded up so i can go for the minimalist look

after that turned my attention to the mountain fo junk in the car,
Offloaded all of this around the house in various places, hiding away from parents!Lol

next fitted the frame sto the seats the were totally stripped so thanks to daryl for getting them back in shape for me!

next cleaned up the carpets, fitted the seatbelts, rear qauter trims properly and the seats went in also

also got the engine on the stand reasy for the treatment tomorow

enjoy...

oh and the mrs thought she would try it for size!

The no door handles was done to a) Be different b) So there wasnt cutouts in the stickers here there and everywhere (so now its a smooth run from front to back)

The car was never gonig to be for sale so i did it how i wanted it simple as.

Yes unfortunately you are. It was my decision to do it. I think it makes the line of the stickers look better personally rather than having cutouts for the handles, locks, fuel cap, boot lock.

Now its just a totally clean run and i think it looks cool a bit different to the rest. It easy for people to say why do that to a sport, but at the end of the day its just another nova (just a little rarer), people still rally sports!! Yes thats what they were made for but mine was done as a show car to my tastes. This was my second sport, the first was pretty much standard, i wanted to do this a little different.

With a bit of time, if really wanted all the non standard bits COULD be put back to standard

it aint going back to standard, to far gone now and i think it looks a lot more modern with the touchs,
just needs a good job of the engine bay which it will have!

nah dont worry mate i aint gonna go as crazy as you done one before to that standard i just got carried away last time!lol

it will be done well but have a dealine for pv and am away for the next 6 months so not exactly flush with time to finish this so some sacrifices will be made but should look good,
im just gonna go look at the engine loom hiding, wish me luck!lol
