what about the angle of the backbox, will it go straight on and be straight ?

looks good, will be interested to see how much difference it will make though, as the outer diameter still seems a bit small for it to be hugely effective, but i suppose as a cumulative effort with the rest of the system it should quieten the car down a fair bit

If it can quieten Ricks 450bhp LET down, it should be OK for my pony XE? The way I look at it is, if I try this and it doesn't work I can look at changing bits of my exhaust. Where as if I try and replace the centre silencer and it's still too loud, I'm abit more limited with my options!

iirc the box is 5" wide which is 2" wider than my centre silencer!

imo i would have thought the TB's would have been louder on WOT than the exhaust.

They are, ALL this is purely for static tests

(which obv doesn't involve WOT)

Yip. 105db and 104db respectively

at two different events. Which is fine for Cadwell and Oulton Park but no good for anywhere else, lol

lol, is that at 3000rpm? thats quite loud, have you got a big ole tail pipe? some trackdays are 94db, which is just daft imo

Thats at 4,800rpm (70% throttle) which is what most tracks ask for. Tailpipe is a tiny 2.5" one

You'll probably be OK tbh. Turbos are very quiet on static tests as they don't have the same amount of air being sucked in that they do when on boost. N/As are pants on statics.

Went to Specky conversions today to have my new exhaust fitted. Plan was to lop off my puny 2.5" tailpipe, chop off 5" length of the new backbox, flip reverse it, weld onto my backbox as a new tailpipe. Then slide what was left of the new backbox inside, then create a mount. - and it all worked as planned.

It's now very quiet, and I should hopefully get on trackdays now. Woop

Have you got to drive to the trackdays though? As i doubt that silencer is road legal??

i'm not sure on this legality thing, i mean, look at a caterfield or whatever, they have silencers outside the bodywork

Yep true, but im sure ive read before that your exhaust cannot stick out past the rear bumper further than 1-2 inches.
