Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club

Never did mine mate as I don't have a front cage but I know what you do

Drill out the spot welds on either side of the door
Cut each bar into 2
Get a stanley knife down the back of each bar to cut the sealant away from the door panel

Remove

If you go on Corsasport into projects there is a chap on there called 'Bendy'. He has a rallycar and has done that, with good pics

There's plenty pics of when I gutted the doors. You can see the welds that need drilling on them I reckon

Cut out dashboard weighed c. 4-5kg so another good bit of weight saving there.

Plan on making some custom door panels up next month to hide the cut-out doors, and hopefully add a 'touch' of noise-reduction

got pic's of the half dash yet?

Yeh. More of a boredom thing though tbh, and it looked really silly without the glovebox or anything in there!

Next job; make some door panels

Pic of half dash. Needs tidying up and will have some more work done to make it tidier in the new year

Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club

Don't want to risk removing the rears as I think it'll pull the paint off, maybe.

Theres still stickers on the drivers side btw I'm having a half and half again

ram it I've just read that the heater matrix only weighs 2kg, so what's the point of removing it

tbh you'd get a few extra laps on the track with the heater in as you'd not be demisting them with a rag lol.

Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club

heated windscreen fast demisting, curry farts heated seats, see where im going here

to be fair though all the gubbings that get ditched with the matrix come in at quite a bit more than 2kgs.

Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club

Just read this quote from one of my linkbacks " behold here I got nothing to slice loaf of sheet steel inside"

not quite sure what it means. Bulgarian translation.... lol

Heater matrix is staying. There's still a few more bits I can cut off yet

Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club

Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club

from what I've read it's 1ltr=1kg. Think the XE matrix holds maybe 2litres at most, so that's still only 2kg. So heater matrix and water = 4kg. I'd have 4kg worth of clothes/gloves/hats/scarfs if I removed it
