| Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club only problem you might find with that setup is there isnt much room,so the spring may well end up coilbound far too easily, which isnt great

| Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club Lee; the springs are nowhere near becoming coilbound - the 150lb ones I had on there before weren't compressed that much; and my new springs are 300lb ones!
Old and new
Bits removed
Nipple cut off
Grinding to make something nice to weld to
Mounting bracket for new coil spring made
Mounting bracket welded in place
Pics end there because my phone is crap and doesn't have a flash on it's camera. sorry

| Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club
On the left we have a spring that has huge gaps off the car between coils. The are also tapered. On the right we have a lil 4 " spring that is untapered, there is less gap between each coil now, add some weight to it the gap will become smaller, then go into a corner and hit the kerb mid corner (on track) and all of a sudden you have a coil bound spring which means you might as well put scaffold poles there instead.
I can see no matter what me or Lee say your not going to listen, but I'll like to warn you that if you were to do the above scenario the chances of the car going belly up are highly likely. I spoke to Olly about this last night, I didn't realise he run this set up. He's going to look into it now. |

| Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club There is hardly any compression in the spring when the car is on the ground Rob; there is no way I could ever manage to get these springs coilbound; there is just not enough weight in the back of the car |

I'm actually going to mount the new teeny tiny digital camera I've just bought to the underside of the car, and I'll video what the spring movement is like when driving. |

| Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club No picture update:
Did some mincing with the new rear suspension setup last night - the car was way too low as it was on it's lowest setting. So I raised it about 10mm; doesn't sound like much but made a big difference and the car sits as it should now.
There was some slight knocking with the new setup; after jacking up the rear beam of the car and removing a wheel I could see that the spring coil was catching on the FK adjuster cups - to rectify I simply slackened off the new retaining nut, and moved the spring backwards to a better angle. Retaining nut was tightened and all was good. It then started raining I still went out for a little jaunt and the car feels massively different! a BIG improvement over the other setup. I've just to give it some proper abuse in the dry weather though, but expect a proper report when I do. (unless I hit a bump mid corner, and the spring becomes coil bound, and I rollover and die ) |

| Re: Vauxhall Corsa 2.0 XE Club @ the last comment,
rallydesign do all the components to do this conversion, i priced them up to around Ј50 for the lot which imo is very cheap i just never got round to doing it. |
