Thumbs up CORSA x16xe converion started,

our first time doing any thing to an engine !!!!

on sat the 4th of august we started stripping the x16xe , me and 2 mates !, never touched engine befor in our lives lol ,

stpiper off the rocker cover , head inlet manifold and gear box and other bits and pices , started at 5 finished at 12pm !

the thing is we are just left with the botom end and clutch still attached,
clutch needs removing so we can put the block on an engine mount !

what is the best way to remove the clutch? (because the clutch is new !)

and when the engine goes back together can and help us set up the timing crank cams ect?? please any help apriciated ,

the engine is going to have everthing new pistons crank head new gaskets any think we can is going to be done (if funds dont run out lol ) hose kit, the engine was running 130bhp but were going for a bit more ,

later a turbo may be added but that will be much later !

the reason my mate didnt go for a 2.0 or the c20let is because it is not needed for the car its going put it this was they are 19" !!

some pics below of the car as it is i will put the engine pics up tomorrow of what we have done ,

cheers all ( all comments welcome )

Agree. Use a HAYNES manual & just for fun take pics & ask/verify it on here. Its always usefull to have the correct knowledge logged on here for others to see how easy it all is.

There is possibly a guide in the tech guides on here for XE/LET which is fundamentally the same.

should be good project.

just curious as to why your looking at putting a new crank in? the cranks are pretty good tbh. get a local engine builder to mic. the crank, incase its been ground, and check whether it will need 2 be ground again or just polished.....save yourself some money. same with pistons......if all ok decoke them and re-ring them.

whats been done to the motor to get it to 130bhp?

hi mate we wa just going to change the lot lol , but the crank looks mint to be fair , going to add turbo pistons because in the future it will be turbo'd

it the race kent cams in and re jetted i think ! with streight through stainless all the way, he has a print out for it some were,

we are all first timers so should be a laugh

think we he will buy the manual when we put it back to gether ,

and idea how to get the clutch off an easy way because its a decent one he told my mate ?

yeah you'll need the pistons, but you'd want the compression about 8:1, normal x16xe is about 10.5:1 so quite a difference. car will be slow as fook. id suggest building a turbo motor first time or find a spare motor and build that up into a turbo lump.
