turbo mk2 astra gte

had a busy few weeks so i thought it was time to put a thread up about my project

had the bay welded and sprayed which i did with a friend

the interier has been stripped of everything i could, carpets insulation and seats ,so the car should be alot lighter. we managed to source a dolly that was only about 4 inchs high put a piece of work surface on it and were ready to go.

i sourced a lowish milage c20let replaced the belt and flywheel alternator as the late spec has a massive pulley on and won't fit in the bay.

put my f28 on it and the brackets i had made up.

it has also had a new cross member and slam panel

we put the engine in after work . It took us a bit longer as had to have a play with the alloy engine mounts as they had one bolt in and the standard ones had two and were a smaller size

we jacked the car up leaving the suspention attached .but took the ball joint of the end of the wishbone removed the wheels

by this time it was 1 am and the curtain twitchers were on high alert

front bumper and intercooler on but was a very tight fit as the intercooler was from a renault van

i had to move the rad over to the center of the intercooler pipes but as i had dropped the engine down on the new mounts, i had to have a play to get the pipe to fit

back on the ground

mot time

here is the list after i had done all that i could thought i would stick it in for a mot and this is the list i got.

check out the brake efficiency

we finished about two in the morn which was a bit to much as we were both shot to pieces by that time.

rear beam has been sourced and making a good one out of the two will put some more pics up at a later date.

As i was doing the rear brakes i thought i would do all the jobs i was planning on doing. so to get the rear bushes out i purchased a blow torch(flame)

Basically i set fire to the bushes and pushed it out with a screwdriver and a hammer.

after getting the bushes out there is a liner on the inside and the poly bushes don't fit (as we had tryed )

We started by bending over the liners.

and wacked it with a 3 lbs hammer and a cold chisel

bushes on

here is the finished artical with all the poly bushes on and koni adjustables ,brakes and new brake lines.
