| Nemesis Corsa GSi 16v Well here it is, my runaround!
At the minute I'm fixing up an RS2000 with a mate, and have a top secret project on the go as well (it's going to be epic! ) so this is my runaround and project on the side. Picked it up yesterday...
(I do have the jacking points)
I was meant to be getting a Calibra SE6 (ice blue ones) for the same purpose but I was struggling for insurance on one for some reason - so I had to stay with a Corsa GSi. My old one was a bit tatty, so this one replaced it.
It's a 1995 (?) M white GSi
Standard GSi kit
X16XE engine with K+N 57i
-60mm on Spax adjustables
TSW alloys
Blue LED dash
Mods planned include:
Mint black Calibra turbo leather to go in
Spray parcel shelf black, and possibly door card material? (opinions?)
Some kind of decent smaller steering wheel, prob Momo
16" five spokes (bought), getting refurbed and powdercoated gloss black
Kicker 12" sub and K800.2 amp, on carpeted MDF floor (going in today hopefully)
Who knows, it might even get a 2.0 16v transplant (ecotec) + F20 if I get bored. Any gen on the wiring on these? And would I just use Corsa XE mounts?
So hopefully I'll bump this thread with some pics of it on nicer wheels in a day or two. |

| Definatly change the wheels. Softstars, speedlines or Block comp Mo's would look good if you go for a "Rally Esque" external appearance, yet a "comfortable cruiser" inside (cally leather).
If you do get bored with the engine, give us a shout as when Specialised Engine Services shut up shop in Braintree and moved the other week, there were a lot of 1600 engine spares etc. Just right for either a 250hp high comp throttle body engine or a 250hp low comp turbo engine!

| Looks like a clean example that survived. White is the best colour for these IMO. It shows off the lines of the kit best.

| Craig - Where can I get a non v-grille? Are they interchangeable?
Andy - I swapped it!
Dave - I might need a few bits actually, but TBH I'd sooner stick an X20XEV in there if I want to make it quicker!
Anyhow I cut an MDF template from the boot carpet. Here it is about to have black accoustic carpet stuck on top! This is what I will bolt the amp and sub to.
More pics when it's in and finished
These are the 16" wheels I'm starting with:
Kerbed to fook
But chemical metal is my friend!
Basically you mix it up, then smear it round the rim (oooo errr) to fill all the missing chunks. You then let it set and sand it back for a fresh lip to the wheel, then paint.
Here they all are, with the chemical metal drying!
I'll probably sand them back this evening and give them a coat of primer.
The final colour will be gloss black, which should look good with lots of tyre shine on a white car (fingers crossed) |

| It's an old engine mate, most of which are smokey, leaky and rattly! I don't like them. Ecotec for the win! |

BUT it is up to you dude and an Ecotec will make for rapid progress in a Corsa.
Looking forward to seeing the wheels once done. |

| Yeah I know from the factory the XE was awesome, but that was a long, long time ago now and TBH your average tired XE with poor compression probably only makes a couple of BHP more than an ecotec. Plus the peak torque is at a lower RPM on the ecotec, it doesn't go porous, it doesn't have oil pump relief valve trouble, dodgy cambelt pulleys etc... and it's a much quieter and smoother engine. Plus it's cheaper! 5 years ago I'd have taken the XE but times change. |

| Ecotec is a bit 'different' anyhow.
Not so taken with the Black wheels tbh. Done to death & wont complement the nice lines of the car IMO. Yours at the end of the day though..
GSi's didnt have a V-grille so someone has bodged it on is my guess. Maybe 'Black the V' to match the wheels is another suggestion. |

| looks like a good one. how good / bad is it underneath?
IMO an original grill (and repaired front bumper), losing the vauxhall badge from boot and 16" irmscher twin spokes would be the nuts. |

looking at the pic's, it look's like bumper hasn't been cut, so a gsi grill should just slot in, and it will look original again... |

| Yeah v-grille needs to go! And will do! Does anyone sell aftermarket grille's for the GSi? All I can find is non-gsi ones?
lol @ the plate, that's kinda cool!
Jack - TBH I was surprised with the GSi I had before this at how good they are. I was expecting it to be around XR2i / Nova standards (ie not hot at all) but actually it's got all the right ingredients! I'm really liking them as IMO they look great with the GSi kit. Tis' no Calibra Turbo - but it's reliable, cheap on fuel and insurance so it'll do for now!
Wheels are coming along well, 2 are fully primed, 2 are half primed. All have had the chemical metal treatment! The shelf has new speakers and is painted black so it's coming along. |
