my white corsa gsi turbo

well have done a wip post on here so ill have to fill you in
some may have seen it before but ill start from the begining

well first off i got the car. started off as the mrs's car,
1993 1.6 gsi in white, the best colour, with only 48k on the clock and was in very good condition for its ages. well after having it for a few months the it spat a rod and sat in the garage looking very sorry for itself

engine was taken out and the car was forgotten

at the time i had my other gsi 2.0 on throttle bodies

was a good car but i got just got board of it and so i decided i wanted a turbo. tb's were stripped off and sold and put back to a standard 2.0. i then did a swap with the mrs for the white gsi as ive always loved white and she loved my car so we did a swap and i got a bit of cash too

soon after this i started to look for an engine and i soon found one near me off breeny off here out of his nova. was said to have a full bottom end rebuild 12k ago, more on that later, the head was off but all gasket and parts came with it and it was a good price so i got it.

so i get to work building the engine

head was stripped and check valves all ground in etc

after trying to fit the head before and being given the wrong bolts and stripping 2 treads in the block, i ordered a stud and nut kit after helicoiling the block.

head was put on and a few parts tarted up

car looked like this at that time

good clean and a bit of paint

welded in a strengthening kit just to be safe

engine was soon ready to go in

with a little help from my mate it was soon in was still waiting for a gearbox so engine was but in first, seems wrong but it was easier for me to do

that will do for now will at soom more up in a bit

How come the suspension turrets are Grey? White GSi's are the best colour IMO.

White GSi's rule, they really are one of the best looking hot hatches IMO. I hope you don't find the LET a dissapointment like I did, best of luck to you

here is a bit more

after fitting the engine i decided i didnt like the colour of the rocker cover so painted and spare set white. also my intercooler arrived to so got that fitted. was an ebay uitem but is very good for what i paided for it. also got a few boost hoses fitted

then fitted my freshly painted front bumper. the intercooler is covered up a fair bit tho but i didnt want to spoil the shape of it by hacking it out. plus i wanted a sleeper

then the moment came to start it up. struck up first time but was only running on 3, check for spark and compression all were good so swapped about the injectors and found one to be fooked. got a new set and soon got it running sweet

after that i started to build the rest of the car back up, 288mm groved disks, pad, calipers were ordered from lmf, brained hoses, crappy g-max suspension was refitted untill i could afford coilovers.

was un happy with the rear hight wanted it lower

anyhow first time to more the car under its own steem and the gearbox was stuck in reverse

so stipped it down and had a look see

couldnt really find anything so put it back together and all was good, for now anyway

ran fine for a while so did a little modding to the rear springs lowered it a bit more.
soon after the gearbox got stuck again so got a nother box and was fine after that

first car show out was mod nats. car was running sweet

soon after that got a photo shoot with redline/total vauxhall

had a day at bruntingthorpe testing a corsa vxr and seeing how it compaired to my car

pics will be in next months redline

was having a good day had a play with rentons timing equipment even tho it was the wettest day ever. did a quarter in 15.3 in the wet with a lot of wheel spin, also did a top speed run off 143 in 1.7 mile, came back all was fine, went to go move it and it was tapping its knackers off to me it sounded bottom end and so had to be trailered home i was gutted but oh well

got it back home and stipped the bottom end down.

shells were a bit worn but not too bad , check crank all was ok, decided to fit some new shells anyway, got a set of heavy duty ones for 15 quid off a mate, bargain
got it all built back up struck it up and was fine, so i called it a night. next day went to go run it up and it was tapping again now at this point i was pissed off and nearly just put it on ebay. but in the end i took the engine out again

sat there engineless for a few weeks again.

will update again tomorrow

right forgot i ever started this thread, im board at the minute so i thought id better update it a bit

well after ****ing the engine at brunters i took it out and stripped it down again.

after first thinking the bigends had gone i took the head off and found that the tapping was only the headgasket, part of the sealing ring was sat on top of the piston and that had been hitting the head causing the tapping. any hoo had nother better to do so stripped the block down and got it acid dipped then put it all back to gether with new bearings uprated main bolts, arps rod bolts ect

gave the block a bit of a paint. had never seen a white block before so id thought why not

new genuine gaskets used etc and was gradually built back up

few more bits were painted to tart things up a bit

then took a week off work to get the engine back in and couldnt of asked for better weather

engine on the floor read to go in

was a right coont pushing it under the car on my own but got there in the end

all bolted up

then started to pipe it all back up

and all done

new lights were fitted as well then a quick visit to my mates work for a dyno

made 204bhp at the wheels at 12psi boost, was running on phase 3 chips but with a crappy actuator

new acutator fitted and made a lot of difference

then started to paint my wheels

got some cavs slabs to put on for the time being

right bit more

got a few bits for my bday like hoses so got round to fitting them

turbo off

quick blast off high temp paint to improve things a bit

hoses the fitted

the refitted back on the car

well that all lasted about a week then the head went porous

so back to bits it was

one fooked head

wasnt too bacd tho as i had a spare head so just swapped a few bits over

block give a quick clean

and head back on

by this time had a few wheels done so tried them on to see what they looked like and i loved them

well finally got round to fitting the f28 i had, the clutch on the f20 had having fun trying to hold the power too

stripped the box down to fit the f20 speedo ring

quick paint to clean things up a bit

new helix sport clutch at a very very good price

decided to fit the box at work as it was a lot easier

easy

new clutch all bolted up

and new box on

and back on the floor

had a few issues with 2nd gear but got it all sorted in the end.

now it was time for more power

turned up the fuel pressure

from

to

then found out on a quick road test that my pump couldnt hold the pressure

so ordered a walbro pump and got that fitted and it runs very well.

just waiting to get back on the dyno

well thats about as it stands at the minute so heres a few pics of what it looks like when its clean or not in bits
