| New 200TS Replica Project thread Due to a change of base car I felt I needed to start a new thread.....
work wont start for a couple of months due to some funding issues and a holiday or two coming up
but here are pictures of the new base car wich I collect on the 21st of july
she is an 98 180iE Auto (C18SEL with AF20?) being an E she has full electrics package so all 4 windows mirrors ect along with aircon.she was imported in late 2005 so is rust free!!!
I plan on taking my time with this project and clearing out more space in my garage and to get plenty of pics up this time!!!
So to start off I will list the planned specs for the car...........
Early 20XE basic rebuild, fully painted with some things polished keeping the early open thermo stat as my car has one now going to be keeping the aircon aswell......
I have an F18wr with F20 Diff in mind but have been toying with the idea of an F28 as the 5th gear ratio is the same on teh F18wr as it is on the F28 so I dont want to hear this nonse about it never getting into 6th as my old astra had an SEH and an F18wr.....
Also got a late calibra turbo front setup with 288's in the garage....so think I will get that all stripped and cleaned along with the veccy GSI rear hubs and brakes I have too
then got some cally turbo rims (all 5) with some 205/50 rubber on them.....then all I will need is a bit of a drop really..............
anyway gonna use this thread to keep track of the clean up and engine rebuild and gonna make it nice and picture heavy this time not like the last thread!!!! |

| ok bit of an update....I have been away and on a different planet these last couple of months....but update so far is as follows....
pics to foloow when i get my digicam repaired
radio in and cabling for ice installed...
late caibra front turbo legs with 288's fitted to front (308's will go on at some stage)
cat installed as it failed MOT...evne though it appears to never have had one fors to 2 other MOTs in the uk..........
rear vectra V6 hubs.....................not fitting..........seems like bolt holes line up but the large hole on the rear beam of the astra seems a few mm to small and wont fit (maybe because my car is non-ABS?) this is a bit of a set back.....I may have to find about a different rear beam or getting that made a bit bigger somehow....
got a replacement fog light and a gsi splitter waiting to go on when the car is returned......
but anyone got any ideas on why on earth my veccy hubs on the rear dont seems to fit |

| Yep if your car is non-abs then the rear beam needs to be an ABS one. Also have you modified the vectra hubs? as the handbrake cable fittings will be wrong too. Upside down i think. You have to modify them |

| the Early mk3 Cavs have this problem too, the ways around it is
another abs beam or grind the holes out with a die grinder/reamer thing
the backing plates require swapping sides and the holes redrilling for the linkage thing inside to be correct if i can remember right |

| MK4 Astra 5 stud non ABS hubs could be used on your beam, instead of the Vectra hub.

this would be much easier than fitting a mk3 ABS beam! |

In the end i just changed the beam and fitted a gsi one as its a pretty easy job.
