Pics needed! Bad luck on that though, get well soon etc etc
Liking the car! V6 in to Mk3 rocks - personally I would have kept the exterior totally stock except for Cav/Cally T fanblades, but each to their own!
Should be nice when done

| The aftermath! Sorry in my panic I failed to get a pic of the damage, I have x-rays though!
Imagine, your head is in clamp, your eyes held open with a speculum, and the guy injects your eye ball, them cuts it with a scalpul and proceeds to pluck away with a pair of tweezers.NOT COOL!!!!!!
It's looking alot better aready!

| got a load of work done today, got all my new bits fitted:-
bottom arms
track rod ends
roll bar links
cv boots
discs and pad
wheel bearings
goodrich hoses
strut top and bearings
shocks and springs
new rims
Things left to do: fit rear shocks and springs, rear goodrich hoses, new back box and a new radiator needed, find a decent front splitter and gsi rear spoiler, then paint my new gsi bonnet vents.

| got my new radiator, it a standard 1.8 astra sport one. Local car parts place wanted £88. I got it from Hartlepool radiadtors for £45! Turns out that were the other place was going to get the £88 one from! Robbing gits!
I decided to cut the slam panel to get the best fit for the rad with the lower holes re drilled an 1 1/2" forward, it will be bolted back on with some welded brackets, in case i need to take it out again.
plenty clearance for fan housing. standard v6 top hose used and astras lower hose.
Cars all finished now and on the road . Only ecu fault was 93, cam sensor. A quick clean up soon sorted it out. At least the diagnostics work!
Got my new splitter from ebay, it a replica of the s-type splitter. Its not a perfect fit, but good enough for the £45 price tag! Plus painting myself saves a few quid!
Problem now is that the front suspension has dropped far too far. I was thinking of trying spring assisters, or even making some coilovers out of the spare legs i have?
Theres a few little jobs left to do. It needs new indicators, The rear n/s arch needs paint, as it had a small rust bubble, thats been ground out and treated with rust cure. Then a bloody good wash and polish!
Now i'm on making an oil pressure gauge fit into the cold air duct. I started by plastic welding the surround into the duct, next i will use filler to smooth it off and spray it with satin black. I might put an volt gauge in the other one.

| Good progress there dude - really coming together!
Have you made the slam panel in to a bolt-on affair or something? Has the potential t omake some jobs easy!
I imagine the fact its too low is that the springs are strong enough for the big V6 - see if you can get front springs (lowered) meant for a Cav or Cally V6 - that should get it sitting better. |

Only thing is the front might be to high after that! I wish i'd kept the standard springs now, they would probably have been better......
I think I'll cut the spring platforms off my spare legs, amd fit a coilover conversion kit. Then i can order what ever poundage springs take my fancy...... |

| hi there Im thinking in the swap project with a v6 3.0 little engine found in the cadillac catera here in the US, is the same engine as the c2.5xe the v6 . Any how. Can you take a pic of the engine supports that you use in your car. And also with the new suspension the weight of the engine affect the front wheels or is the same as the previous x20xe? |

I suspect, unless you want to make custom mounts, you will need to order a set of engine mounts from Vauxhall in the UK or Opel in Germany.
You need a set of mounts from a Vauxhall Cavalier MK3 2.5 V6 (aka Opel Vectra a 2.5 V6) or the Vauxhall Calibra 2.5 V6 (aka Opel Calibra 2.5 V6).
Or, take a chance on some used ones from one thats been broken up.

what the hell is a cadillac cantera?
If you post a pic of you engine bay it might give us clue as to what mounts might be best ( if they are anything like daewoos it may be the same enginebay anyhow)
The engine has droped the suspension over 60mm, the springs are 40mm lowering items intended for the astra gsi C20xe. A stronger spring will be required or coilovers to set it up properly. 60mm drop causes excess bottoming and excess camber/bump steer. (as i have found out this week!)
I like the crack about 'little engine'! Its a monster over here!
Out of interst, does the engine come in any other forms in the us? turbo'd? |
