well being as i was so bored with all the family coming over i set to task on finding the reason for the constant metal rubbing noise.

So parked the car outside the garage with it running looked down towards the bottom pully and notices the silver of the bolts showing. So off came the wheel and well all but one bolt was almost out. Got out the tools and some super strong lock nut stuff and cleaned them and refitted them all sorted now just need to do up the rear engine mount bolts dont think i did them up enough lol.

woohoooo ok I found out what the annoying rattle was the auto thingy on the cambelt wasn't sat in its right how all sorted now just an oil leak,

Unsure if its the sump gaskit or the cooler pipes. So to be on the safe side for now once i have fitted the new sump gaskit, I will remove the oil cooler and other bits for it to see if its that also

We will see but i aint nuts like you hahaha, Going to removed the oil cooler setup tomorrow give everything a good clean and take it for a good run see if its still leaking oil if it is then i know its the sump gaskit. The mess thats under there from oil seem's like its the pipe's for the cooler but who knows

    Re: Smokin's 5door astra mk3 ;)

Well started on the sump today. Front bumper off up on the ramps exhaust off sump off. cleaned the bottom of the engine, put some petrol in the sump to clean the manky crap off will take photo's tomorrow also well cleaning the pick up pipe i noticed that the blue gaskit sealer i used before has gone into the end where it picks the oil up so cleaned that out. started to finish up as its gone cold now and i am a wimp .

    Plans for tomorrow are:

    Refit the sump
    Refit the exhaust
    Replace the front brake pads
Change the heater matrix with the new one i have
Possible swop of seats unsure on this yet tho.

All help welcome if anyone wants to pop over and fit the last two ???

Right sump all fitted and doesn't look like any leaks. well fitted the exhaust back together ANDY and ROB turned up . finished up what i was doing left it run for abit everything seems fine. At this point rob was hungry so we went to the local pub and had some food then came back and cracked on with the heater matrix and Andys clocks . Just need to bleed all the air out of the matrix fit the black plastic tray once fixed and get it running hot oh and fit my seats lmao.

So a big thanx to Andy and Rob for turning up and lending a hand

I was happy happy happy, even happier today as it all still works and my outside temp reader is within about 10 degrees. Will get a new one soon.

Rob was slightly impressed as to how quickly I got all the bits back off when we got back to his I think, must have been the magic screw driver.

Adam, hopefully you will have hot air now . My back was not happy from all those dropped ratchets yesterday!

Well spent yesterday and today pissing about with the car slowly doing my ****ing head in. Put everything back after fitting the heater matrix need to get a new black plastic bottom part lol its fooked. got the GSI seats in feel alot better than my old warn ones. Also fitted a different speedo cable.

Now i think i will need to get a few lenths of water hose and swop two of the pipes about so water goes in and out of the heater matrix no photo's cam broke and my phone died lol.

Also got the car back on the ramps as there was still an oil leak hmm after doing the sump last weekend i remember every sump bolt was dogged right up yet some on the one end are loose lol so did them up again everything seems fine went down the road for a spin and the old lady next door phone the police as she thought i didnt have tax or insurance lmao stupid bint lol
