| The 550 BHP Nova Build?? Seen as yesterday went o so well i decided to make a start on the nova today and cure some of the problems i have had with it so here we go.
Dash out:
Loom removal:
Engine loom removed:
Engine loom on floor:
I shud have the whole car loom out tomorrow morning and then i am just waiting for a GSI loom to arrive off a lad on novaload. Either that or i look into having a car loom made up for me.
I have ordered a new Autronic loom,
New main bolts,
New sump gaskets,
New ARP's for the rods,
New cam belt,
New oil pump gaskets,
and a few other odds and sods.
Need 4 new tires as well (the **** that are on it dont cut the mustard Falken ditch finders). I am about to put a post up asking for advice on this.

How come your ordering new cambelt etc etc?
Did you not have that done before the engine went in? |

I had the stock vauxhall trigger disk removed from the crank as i was meant to be running SM2 which did not support a vauxhall 60-2 trigger disk setup. Then i sold the SM2 and got SM4 that does support 60-2 triggers. I had a external disk made up but i realise i would have been best with the internal trigger so thats why the engine is coming out again!
Also i want the clutch sorting out one way or another, either make it so it fits with no gearbox spacer plate or get a different setup off Chris Reay. |

| Rick i have come to the conclusion your are 100% mad.
What is the probelm with running an external trigger?
The arp's can be re-used aswell mate.
And you do realise that should you want to take the crank out it is nigh on a full engine strip, fly has to come off aswell.

Fly has got to come off anyway as i think it might be been changed once i have some measurements to send to chris.
BTW ARP2000's used on steel rods cannot be reused for some strange reason .
Gearbox needs splitting as its been leaking oil ever since i put it back together so its just really giving me a bloody good excuse to sort all the pain in the arse issues out i have got with it. Going to blitz them all at once and aim to have it back sorted within 2 weeks, this time properly and this time it will be going straight to mark.
Just need to sort a engine loom out as i dont have the time or the motivation to make and wrap one. Hopefully Leesturbo will take on the task though Either him or Ryan off passionford. |

Either way it runs ! and tbh its only a matter of putting it all back together once your new parts arrrive.
Ring Ryan mate, the lazy homo should be able to sort you out quickly. I have got to go to his this weekend but I dont suppose your anywhere on route from mine to his or I would take your old loom over if you wanted.

You want it finished to how you want it finished, you don't just want it "done" to go to pv...
Might as well get it how you want it!

| Crazier than a bag of angel dust!
I can see why you are doing it like that. It would appear you really want this done properly before its debut. NICE!

| Correct. ARP2000's are only recommended to be used once. I have a spare set just in case I feel like taking a rod apart (??!?!).
I can sympathise with you Rick. The cav is up and running and even mot'd last Monday but I've got an oil leak from the 5th mains or crank seal. Tried do the mains yesterday with gearbox in and leak is worse now
Have little enthusiasum but gonna make myself do it properly and subframe off, box out, fly off, dry sump system off etc etc and cure this thing properly.
Difficult to find the get up and go to do it though.
Keep at it. |
