| Slight update.
Stripped the spare XEV i aquired for the total sum of £0 today. Shud have the trigger disk off come tuesday and hopefully my engine in bits by then ready to throw it on.
Things are coming together fast now, new springs arrived this morning 350lb 7" fronts and 400lb 11" rears. Rears are rock hard. Shud prove a interesting ride as the bottoms of the shocks are rose jointed so you feel every bump as it was!
Been told by dad its got to be moved soon so he can paint the garage floor. |

| i dont know who advised you on them spring rates but thats a bit hard imo
on most mk2 astra race cars the lads run 275 -300 in the front and 475 in the rear
imo with the set-up you have from what i have learned about suspension is going to be to hard on the front and to soft on the rear so totaly miss matched.
althou i might be totaly wrong as i am still learning myself |

| I dont care about ride quality TBH and a 275 is 2 soft on the front with all the weight it has. Its not a track car and its not going to be cornering fast tbh.
If i wanted ride quality i would be running 15's and billy/koni adjustable shocks. |

| You can getaway with 275's if you have a n f20 in there but it has to be atleast 300's with the f28. 350's will be........fun.

| so, say the front end of your car weighs 100 kg more than mine, and thats a big ish guess, do you think you need more than 50% percent more spring rate to cope with that?( i run 225 lb) all you'll do is make your tyre sidewall become your suspension, and on soft ish p zero walls it'll be bounce city as your tyres are an undamped spring |

| even so, its still at least a 50% spring rate increese, which is huuuuge! i guess you'll see how it is, but i reckon it'll be terrible, why did you change the set up anyways, how did it behave before? |

| I had 275's on my f28 let and it wasn't good, lol. Switched to 300's and it was a massive improvement.....was considering going up a touch more |

| The 275 were............softer, they seemed to.....sink into the corners too much, almost like you had too get the body rolled over into it before it started feeding back. Clear as mud?
I'm no expert on suspension setup but i know i much preferred the 300's over the 275's.
Kinda gave the steering a sharper feel aswell. |

| BTW i agree with you on going 300+ on 40 profile 17's, they'll feel great on a smooth track but will rattle you teeth loose on the queens highway. |

| i see what your saying, bit less body roll from the higher poundage, personally i think 300's would be about the max i'd want to go, even with an f28 and a turbo, any higher and its like i said above, your tyres will be doing the work
but, its ricks car, so it depends what he's trying to achieve i guess |

| 300lb will be fine if not perfect.
Ran 275lb on my old nova and it was bloody awful, drove a similar setup car on 300lb springs a while back and it was much better than mine ever was, amazing how such a small amount can make that much difference.
