    Re: My Nova's Rebirth

Got the F28 fitted in place today..

First found with this much gap..

It was very close to here...

After so tweeking, pulling, pushing, jacking, measuring i got it to fit better, rear mount looks like it lines have a bit of threaded bar in it at the mo.

But here is where i have the prob. With everything in the right place (going by my measurement) i cant get the rubber mount in between the chassis leg and gear box mount..

Now slotting the holes in the box mount ever say 3mm will give me the room i need.. Shouldn't be a prob should it? I'm not a far of slotting mounts tho..

    Re: My Nova's Rebirth

Is there any way you can get rid of a few mm from the gearbox mount itself or re-drill the bolt holes over a few mm so you got room for the rubber mount to slot in

hi benn am sure a had the same problem when fitting the f28 in my corsa , the 3 holes in the mount were machined out a little to let the mount move over to the drivers side , just tolet it line up , mac

I dont think so, the holes are being slotted as we speak, So i can move it over to give me room.

I hate it when stuff ain't a straight fit

Might aswell make it from scratch

    Who made the mounts?

Like you've already said, making the holes longer is your best bet

    Re: My Nova's Rebirth

So holes slotted, had to do 4 out of the 5 annoyingly. But it means everything fits on now..

Did a bit of adjusting and checking..
    Sound it was getting this..

Moving jacking and messing about but got this...

    Then found this...

Re did it so the rear mount lines up (as well as it can with no rear bolts in it) But then the engine wasn't level.. But As i've been reminded the car might not be sitting level..

So its now all ready for welding.

Found i'm gonna need to play here tho...

    Re: My Nova's Rebirth

Did a final check up today, thanks to Dan for helping me.
Then James came over with a very heavy duty welding for some action.

    Looking nice.

    Action shot..

You can see the penetration well, but has been welded on the inside too.

Nice beading, the holes been re-plated too.

Almost a shame to smooth over it all.. But needs to be done.

Just caught up Benn, the shoot looks excellent - love the OCD that some people don't think about before a TV / photo shoot that you can then see in the photos.

    Re: My Nova's Rebirth

    Cracked on today.

Found i had 3 holes from the spot welding on the chassis leg (these all pulled off..) So plug welded these up today.

Played with the settings on my welder before i started...

    Getting these welds...

Pulling and pushing the touch.. Other side, shows good penetration...

But still cant quite get it as well on the body, bad ground? Metal not as clean?

    Plugging up..

Finished grinder down the welds around the mount and go a coating of black fiber glass over it all...

    Can sand it off tomoz.
