Car went in Tuesday for Engine swap, should have had it back today but had a couple of teething problems like oil cooler unions are different on a 4 engine to the 6.5, Doh!

Had a choice of either taking the oil filter housing off my old engine and bolting it on or having some custom pipes made up!
The oil filter housing would be a git to swap because one of the bolts for it is behind the cam belt cover which would mean the aux belt and tensioner would need to come off etc etc which is all labour so it worked out cheaper to leave the 6.5 housing on there and have some custom hoses made up which is cool but costly

They just need to fit the uprated pump now and swap the ECU over and do some testing and all should be good!

Will get some pics and report back tomorrow when I should hopefully have it back (if I can afford the bloody bill)

Just need some management and a bigger FMIC and I will be sorted

Get us some photos of it when you get back.

How did you sort out your oil piping?

What, it takes 4 minutes to pick up a car after an engine swap?

Another post for the sake of posting, Steve?

Have a read up on the MLR about intercoolers you could save some cash there as the std ones on the Evo are quite good even for the power your aiming for.

One day I'll have another

PS Crank walk can happen even on a stock I-IV engine some believe its more to do with the clutch than the engines power output, which makes sense as its the main thing applying sideways load to the crank.

OK, I got it back BUT theres a couple of little issues to be sorted...

I thought the new clutch was a HKS something or other but in fact ive just found out its an AP 4-paddle clutch, I am not getting on with it very well, its like a fooookin on/off switch and if you catch it wrong you end up doing some serious kangarooing which sounds like the gearbox and diff are about to fall out Its bedded in a bit better since Friday and im starting to get on with it ok but its still a total git and I don't think I could sit in traffic with it very long without getting seriously pissed off!

Otherwise the engine is working lovely, running just under standard boost at the moment until I can get it on the rollers to be set up with the extra fuel pressure which should see 300bhp-ish for now until the after market management or a ECUTEK ECU flash happens

The tubular manifold defiantly makes it spool quicker but at the moment its started to blow where it joins the turbo, may need a tighten or the manifold face skimming

There is an aircon pipe that sits very close to the exhaust manifold, it would normally clear the standard manifold but as this one is bigger it has touched and melted through so I've not got any air-con at the moment (not that I need it right now lol) but the garage are going to fix that for me as it was technically their fault!

On Thursday its going back to get these little problems sorted!

As for the exhaust, well its SILLY, JUST SILLY............quiet!
Yes I said quiet! lol I can't believe it, its even quieter than the HKS Dragger that was on there before and thats known to be quiet!! Oh and I need to get a 3" decat pipe as the one I have is a 2.5" (thought it was a 3) ah well!

Couple of pics anyway, one I forgot to put up of the 3" magnex down pipe semi-wrapped and one of my new "free" LED sidelights lol will get some proper ones soon!

Cheers

The plate is back in there now, just wanted to see how it looked without as I know a lot of Evo owners take it out during summer and track days

Once you get stuck in they are very easy to work on.

I found the top end rebuild on mine possibly easier than an XE on due to a very well designed and thought out engine.

I had an AP and it was the same when it was new. Massive sidestep settles it down pretty quick though, or some miles.
