| while im at it heres my road nova too following on from this thread http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=302523
i thought i would share a brief history of the rebuild of my 1200 nova roadcar.
paid £100 for an unloved but good nick (debateable) 1200 merit with 54k on the clock and in a nice rare colour!
having broken my last nova and hoarding parts from other cars i had most of the bits i needed (this car came with many of its removed parts too)and plenty spares so i set about cleaning it up startiing with welding up and questionable areas on the front and respraying the bay
then the time came to transplant all the injection gear from my last car including the 44k mile engine into this shell which was originally a carb model. (the marks in the middle that look like scratches are tank tape as this tank came out the rally car and was near enough new - the marks on the near corner of the tank ARE scratches )
then i painted up the underside of the car and the front inner arches (pic slightly out of sync obviously)

| i then did a DIY rebuild on my engine, was my first so god knows if it will actually work
basic stuff really, cleaned and painted parts, new belts and rollers, gaskets etc. also fitted a cheeky wee GSi cam to liven it up a little. plan was to fit a 14se head and some inlet trickery but i didnt bother, however i have the parts and plan to build a proper cheeky 1200 for my corsa....
engine going in
then proceeded to doll it up as and when i felt the need, it currently looks like this
note drainpipe induction kit ...out of date arty shot next...
then did my brakes (ATE 16v jobs with goodridge lines) and interior (mk1 SR buckets, SR clocks, GSi boot carpets...nothing mad).
also played with ideas for styling, planning bigmouth GSi front with zafira grill insert, astra GSi vented bonnet, finless GSi skirts and nice low ride hieght. wheels will be whatever is going at the time!!
heres some pictures of how it has looked on a few different occassions... |

| car is now away for a couple of weeks while my dads mate welds up the new rear panel and a couple of plates on the inner arches and offside sill. basically i lost interest big time so getting it back almost MOT worthy will be a big boost and it might actually get finished!
i have loads of pics of this car and its various stages so if you want to see anything just ask me! will keep this thread up to date as it comes to fruition in the coming weeks

| Looking good, these budget builds are often more fun & a better read than the 'money no object' approach. |

| car returned from the welder the other week and he has done a brilliant job on rear panel and arches!!!
replacement rear panel painted
looks much nicer now its got trim and carpet
finished paint on the underside and arches
dug out the once minty rear beam, will need a rub down and repaint now tho...
also found my skirts, ready for prepping and painting. seems a shame to paint them as they are bloody gorgeous, were obviously well cared for by previous owner (dusty in pic)
heres the wee box of trim that remains to be fitted, and can all be fitted now YESS!!!
jobs for this weekend are clean and fit interior (then cover with sheets and lock the doors!)
fit rear beam and rebuild drums as necessary
buy rear wheel bearings
collect new wheels and tyres from novaali
make it run (wiring fault somewhere for me to find)
after that all it needs is body prep, paint, mot and tax |

| right then, interior is all fitted and cleaned up, except the door cards as the windows will be coming out for painting.
really big push to get this finished now and all i need is a set of -60mm front springs (pref in red and good condition) and the exhaust centre section, anybody able to supply me with either of these items?? |

| its just a plastic trim that would cover the bit that is painted blue in that shot of my boot there. how much you want for springs? and is the paint on them in good nick? (thats more important than quality hahah) |

| ive a pair of FK automotive front springs, bought as a kit (i ordered 40mm, but they sent 60/40)for my silver corsa, fitted them for 2 days, but didnt like them, too low compared to the back. There really long/progressive, look almost std until until weight goes on them, so ride very smooth for 60 springs, not harsh at all, ideal for what u need!
Let me know if u still need them, will take £30 |
