Project Corsa

It all came about after selling my VTS and deciding to build something that wouldn't fall apart every 200 miles (with my mechanical knowledge the corsa will probably fall apart every 100 miles now).
So I sold that French tin can and went on the hunt for a corsa. After going to see 8 corsas and acquiring 2 negative feedbacks on eBay for not honouring my purchase (due to the cars being in a right state) i gave up with the only purchase being a set of FK Highsport Coilovers.

Another 3 weeks went and i still had no Corsa, but had got my hands on a engine/box/brakes/loom from a 1991 Calibra, along with a group N ECU. Inspired, I went in search of the other bits and bobs I needed where i found in the possession of namkeaps, whilst there i made a decision in about 30 seconds to have his shell that he was selling, so i towed it away in the dead of night with frosted windows for a good 20 miles! oh joy!

My progress so far!!

6th February

Strip the calibra. I love breaking these cars, there so hideous! i stripped the rear brakes so had to invert the rear wheels to get it mobile

Engine out!

That's all i could really do yesterday! but i had high plans for today, was hoping to get the engine on its mounts, but after starting late and faffing about I decided i'd just put the coilovers on and leave it on some cav rims for now.

My rear springs are height adjustable, but the adjustable seats had seized, so I left them off, so its sitting low, about -90mm.

It was bloody freezing, got chapped lips and everything! snow is predicted for tomorrow, so if its not too bad i'll pop the engine on the mounts!

Could you let me know what a 'Group N' ECU is please, From what I know,, 'Group N' is the Group Under 'Group A', which means it is the standard 'Production' Group often referred to as the 'Showroom Class'.

Well after pondering whether to brave the snow, it stopped, so i plodded off to start work!!

Was hoping to have some help today, but my mate had to do a bit of work of his own, so i set about putting the engine in.

Then it started snowing again! but now i had got started some little white flakes were not going to stop me!

Finally, all sat in place.

I got under it to fit the rear gearbox mount and it didn't need a spacer! so that's a bonus! just stick the normal linkage on

Should have it looking more like a car tomorrow, and start to get everything wired and plumed up!

Some good progress there, reminds me of when I did mine working in the snow. If theres any other bits you might let me know when you pop down tomorrow for the exhaust I might be able to help.

There not the wheels i'm using, they came straight off a cav and have some stupid width/aspect ratio on them, but I will keep a eye on that!!!

are the top bolts, where it bolts to the hub not camber ajustable? so you can lean the wheels toward's the arch abit more to clear the coilover...

im sure vegasphil had the problem with the tyre making contact and changed with that..

No, not unless you buy camber bolts or elongate the holes!

well looking at the suspension... bottom hole is normal, top on its like a long oval...

would of though, it would change the angle of the wheel slightly, if it can slide forwards and back on the top hole :s

can also see it on this hole

Not to anyworthwhile degree mate, why do you think people buy the bolts when they lower them? You will only have an absolute flee's penis to play with, it would be so minimal it's not worth bothering!

The tops of the hub are not oval as standard, if yours are then someone has opened them out mate.
