went to the mig RR session last weekend. took loads of pics on my fone but cant find the lead to plug into the computer anywhere

so heres some pics that other people took and sent me

and here are the results of the day! came 3rd out of 28

got 289.1 bhp and 316.8ftlbs torque

power was slightly down on this run? possiblly due to leavin the bumper on this time so only the bottom 1/3 of the intercooler was bein cooled, or it could just be the rollers! was up 10ftlbs on torque, bit strange!

had a brilliant day! met loads of new people and had a whole day of talking vauxhalls! what more colud you want?

now its time for operation take the astra apart!

started yesterday and got it all out today!

    bumper off

    bonnet off

    everything brakeable off

top hat and fuel rail off to get loom out

never realised how big the standard turbo is!!

    strapped up

had to really angle it to get the gearbox out from under the battery tray and abs unit

    and out

dropped the gearbox off and found i had a super light flywheel, all the insides been taken out aswel

and took the clutch off to find the flywheel had been chromes aswel! doesnt show too well on the pics but it is really shiny!! looks like it has taken a bit of a battering with the clutch tho!

here it is bein put on the stand

and left an lonly empty bay!

got lots to do on the engine, so got my prorities right and set on paintin the brakes

got the gearbox ready to be checked out next week! will take it in tuesday

    and the engine ready too

got had to do one of the core plugs about a month ago and it was an apsolute twat!!!! to do when it was in the car, so whiles its out im gonna do all the remaining ones!
then the engines gonna be treated to a nice lick of paint, as are all the ancilleries, gearbox, turbo, p/s plipes, the lot! so it all looks perfect for PV show
goin to be orderin a set of blue silicon hoses aswell and a few other bits!

do you normally drive round with the bumper off too then ? dont worry about the numbers

may i recommend something a bit more secure than a g-clamp holding the 140 kilo engine to the stand

stripped the power steering pump and manifold off, and did all the remaining core plugs!

did block red again and head and dizzy silver

painted up the inlet manifold, sump, engine mounts silver and the starter, and power steering bits black

gave the turbo a good clean up!

goin to take me wheels in to work for a refurb while its off the road, not kerbed up much, but enough for me to notice!

put it down on some 17s i had layin around! couldnt belive how high it sits with out the engine in, wat a heavy lump lmao

and also while its off the road gonna take the bumper into work and repair the splitter, which has been speed bump hungry before i got it and this is the first chance ive had to do it properly

gonna the the f28 to the gearbox place tomorrow to get it checked out, wallet ready

gonna get manifold gaskets and rocker cover and sump gaskets tomorrow too!

    Good work pal.

I like the way that its almost standard practice to paint all engine components on any kind of rebuild now.

Looking forward to seeing you and the car agan at PV bud!

Cleaned and painted parts are much nicer to have on a rebuild. Much better than working with greasy oily parts.
