got another few gauges of mig come through today,

boost, a/f ratio and oil prressure (tho i've already got an oil one lol)

these gauges never seem to look as good on the pics because of the dome lense, still look cool in dark

going to have the oil pressure, oil temp and water temp in place of the ash tray, and the boost and a/f ration in the piller pod (as much as it does my head in, it locates the gauges well)

and remembered i won this steering wheel through fast car mag about a year ago and just stuck it under my bed

so if i can find a cheap boss i'll stick that in too!

That looks like a nice wheel. Gauges are a bit too bright and colourful for me though.
Teeth? LUXURY! When I was a child we ate by putting rocks in our mouth and jumping up and down.

na not gonna be hard at all, two are going in the pillar pod which is already there, and the other 3 are going in place of the ashtray, so will just need to make a plate up.

na easy to wire up, just basic wiring positive and negatives which can just be taken from behind the dash, the harder bit for the oil pressure and temp gauges is fitting the sender units, which i'll prob be getting fixings to run them in the oil cooler pipes which is the easiest way.

went to southend last night in me mates nova turbo, and **** me it makes me want the astra back desperately, he's just finished a full engine rebuild and the addition on a quaif strait cut box and diff!

not many pics of his but heres a few

engines specs more or less same as mine apart from he's running EDS phase 4 with gives him lots more power running around 360-370bhp and far better boost delivery than mine! and he's got full 3inch exhaust system (which odly is quieter than mine with 2.5inch)
and his straight cut box is like nothing ive ever experienced before, the noise, the speed the gearchanges! goes through the gears like a sequential box! cuz it weighs **** all aswell it accelerates like a jet fighter! its got the same tyres as mine but gets so much more grip, might be down to suspension, im runnin koni's and he's runnin bilstiens!

only down side to it is the gear rations are all too low in hte box, it does 99mph on the limiter in 5th! he will be changing the final drive ratio soon so will be up to more 130ish, but at the mo it only does 50mph at 3000rpm so thats all he does on long jounys! and took about 1.5 hours to get there in this as apose to the normal 45mins! plus a big head ach from the straight cut box, but when we were there it was worth every bit of discomfort, silly evos skylines and cossies lol

and the drive home at 50mph at 3am took a loooong time, but we swapped drivers towards the end through all the countryside and **** **** **** me its quick, i want the astra back NOW!

been tied up with me mates cars all weekend so only had a bit of time this evening to work on the astra.

started with the gear linkage, was gonna go out and buy a short shift for it, but i got given a link of how to DIY with all the measurements, so off i went

standard linkage, which turns out to be the same on astra the f20 and f28

stripped it all off till i had the bit i need

did some measureing, and marked which piece was which, other wise i would of cut it up and had 4 bits not knowing which way round or up they go

    and sergically made the cuts

and repositioned them into the short shift sequence

then tacked them in place, measures the centres and alignment again, then welded it all up, last run

    and all welded up

gonna take it to work tomorrow to grind it all down nicely and paint it up!

and a trial fit for now

took all the engine mounts off aswell to take them into work, as i was gonna buy a solid engine mount kit, until i was told its works just as well to fill them up with bonding! so i though i'd give it a go, got them all off

and while i was there i painted up all the mounts, and i caliper i still had to do.

Great job Ronnie, loving the battery relocation cable from the beemer!

Brother in law just got a 535D, also has a trade account with BMW, will have to see about a price for those power cables!

When you started off it reminded me a lot of this mk3 GSI-T

Love your car mate, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh next year.
