WOW! Thats bloody nice Neil, fair play, always liked kit cars/caterhams/westfields etc and want to build one one day myself so will defiantly be watching progress!

Deffo see the advantages of going coil packs though, gotta be worth doing if you have to get it re-mapped and everything anyway, plus you don't have the great big distributer sticking out the side so you gain some more space and can mount engine back a bit more if need be

No they dont, he misread your question and gave you the answer to if they did FWD ones, which is a NO.

They are nearly all rwd, with some 4wd ones available from Dax

Ive been in one, certainly an impressive car, but TBH I would sooner have a RWD one personally, but if you want to do wet lap times I would imagine it is quicker.

Not really the kind of thing you can spec your own to I'd imagine... Too many variables with 4wd lol.

I think you're right and from what I gather the earlier 4x4 Dax's handled pretty poorly - great in a straight line and off the line but had very poor lock through the corners. I've heard this has been improved upon now.

So far it has cost £6,575

£6,125 for the Rolling Chasis etc (This can be cheaper if you don't want 4 pots / lower floor pan / FW Bodystyle)

I bought my own Cossie box and Sierra 4x4 LSD for £450.

Essentials from this point are Fuel tank, pipes and pump. Prop, loom, interior - (steering wheel, seats, instruments, switches, carpet) roll bar, clutch, rad, SVA trim, lights, exhaust. I'll also need intercooler and boost pipes and an alternative sump solution.

...Blimey that doesn't sound too much now that I've written it down. there's bound to be more that I've forgotten though

This looks to be a very interesting project!

What sort of power / spec will the LET be running?

I helped my friend build a Cosworth powered Lluego (spelling?) over the last year, and that thing puts out just under 450bhp, which is absolutely insane!

Are you going to westfield for all the parts, if not i can recommend vehicle wiring products for the loom, was around £150 all in and very easy to install. mates up to sierra switchgear.
I put one in a Blade engined MK indy. Had great fun building it and more so driving it.

A bit OT here but i don't think the 4x4 dax uses cossie running gear as the front wheels are in front of the engine block. teh only 4x4 ones i knew of were twin bike engined or using a fairly specialist diff arrangement. maybe wrong though, i'd love to get a look at one though to see what goes in to it.

The only 4x4 Dax I have ever seen was a V8 engined jobbie, not amazingly quick though... (Engine too heavy I guess - spoiling the main feature of this style car; power to weight ratio)

I'm pretty sure the DAX uses Cossie running gear on the 4x4.

Here's a link to a video of a Cossie powered Dax Rush - I don't think it's 4x4 but it goes quite well!
