What's wasted spark Rick? Coilpack? If so no - it would be a good idea because I could move the engine further back towards the bulkhead but tbh I'm pretty much on my own with this build and I wouldn't know how to go about it.

Despite almost everybody telling me to wait for the lighter chasis - I settled for the heavier one... It's actually only 5Kgs lighter and costs an extra £420 + VAT so I'll just have to save 5Kgs by easing off on the pasties.

So today I went to pick up the kit. After a quick look around their factory we found my rolling chasis on a trolley so we stuck some wheels on it:

Other bits of my kit lay nearby - FW Style rear

FW Style bumper and nose assembly with lots of vents

Once we had it loaded onto the trailer it was time for the fun bit - the test drive in the Westfield demonstator. The Sport 1600

My mate Karl drove first - he's a bit more used to them than me.

Old bill were warned of our adventure

    My go

It wasn't exactly rapid with it's little 1.6 engine but you can't help grinning like mad when you're so close to the ground.

Finally get back home and chucked the body panels onto the car to see roughly what it'll look like.

Some AP Racing 4 pots - all looks pretty when it's new.

    Some suspension

    Transmission tunnel

And finally a box of bits still to go on the car... I'd better get started now!

I'm guessing Neil's will have the seats facing the right way though.

    So contrived, but funny.

Excellent. Looking forward to this thread progressing. Going to be a absolutely scary car.

How are you going to control traction? Detune it, map boost less agressively in lower gears? Does your Autronic EMS feature TC?

btw realised you look like Peter Cech the other day dude. Just older!

very ambitious project, worth every second. Brilliant finish.

Not really, he's pretty busy with other thing nowadays so I'll be pretty much on my own with this one.

Yes mate, pop around for a cuppa. And what is wasted spark and why is it a good thing?

I'm going to start off by knocking a lot of boost out and running it at as close to 300Bhp as possible. My specific Autronic doesn't do TC unfortunately. It'll definately need a re-map though as I'll be changing some of the setup such as the intercooler. I also had a lot of fuel starvation problems on the Astra which we eventually identified as being due to the fuel tank, and so with a fresh canvas on the Westfield I'll be able to sort that issue out.

Wasted spark = coilpack, and is a good thing due to spark strength and less ignition system maintainance.

If you are going SM4 though, you can go one step further and go for 4 coils, thats the ultimate

Im unsure on your specific ECU, but at worst case its likely to be a small amount of wiring and the addition of two cheap ignition amps.

Are you staying with your ecu or going SM4?

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "f*ck, what a trip!"

Yep Dax Quadra runs 4x4 - they're very nice but you pay for it too. I narrowed my choice down to either the Westfield or the Dax but the Westy came out on top down to customer support.

OK then - I'll have a look at the wasted spark. I'm going to stick with the SMC for a while I think - mainly due to finances.
