Got the car out on the road this weekend after it's winter hibernation.
Planned winter jobs were to fit a full roll cage, and address the intake temperature issues.
Unfortunately my wife was made redundant shortly after I placed an order for a new car so spending on the Westy wasn't going to be a sensible idea so the roll cage has been postponed.
First to do was to replace the small PWR charge cooler rad. I made a template that literally filled every available milimeter of my front nosecone and sent the drawings to Pro Alloy to build for me.
I moved the gel battery from the bulkhead to behind the dash to give me a bit more room under the bonnet. And tidied the hosing up by using some fresh yellow silicone.
I've always though that my engine bay could do with a bit of a tidy up. What with boost solenoids and water injection gubbins cluttering the place up it all looked a bit messy. Also I don't really like the under bonnet temps getting to stuff like the air filter etc so I thought I'd make a cover out of Nimbus heat shielding.
I also gave the exhaust manifold a fresh wrap, built a shield between the manifold and the coolant pipes and cut two large vents into the bonnet.
The engine bay looks much neater now and hopefully it should be a bit cooler too. Other jobs completed over the winter included fitting an FIA battery cut-off switch, swapping the standard SVA steering wheel for a suede D shaped one on a snap-off boss. And carpeing the interior... I'm doing a massive drive across Europe in the thing and want the enviroment to be a bit nicer. With that in mind I also installed an intercom system.
I've given the whole car a thorough going over - cleaning everywhere - underneath looks almost new again. It doesn't really serve any purpose I guess but makes me feel better.
