Certainly looks a tight fit in thereShould be a great drive though, tail happy i imagine
Couldnt help notice the special looking jubilee type clips on your inlet and charge cooler assembly. Where/what are they from?

Nearly finished building a C20XE nova...
looks brilliant mate, just wondered why did you decide to go for a charge cooler instead of an intercooler?
They're called Murray Clips. They're used on WRC cars as they absolutely will not let a boost pipe blow off and they also don't bite into your silicone. They're sold at Sorensen Road Sport (01752 603 500) but aren't listed on the new website just yet.
Just space really. That little charge cooler rad is all I could fit up front so an intercooler big enough to service 400Bhp would have to go somewhere else which starts making life difficult. This particular cooler seems to have got some good results on other cars and I went for the 650Bhp kit so there should be a bit of a buffer between my goal and the limit. I'll have to wait and see if it works out as I hope.
how did the mapping go. what was the final out come?
suffered a fire last time i heard, nothing major though.
any updates?
Yeah had a little fire but nothing too serious. Just forgot to disconnect the battery when pulling the inlet manifold off.
I've been running the car on a timid map of just 0.5Bar since the LET went in. I've had an irritating oil-smoke problem since the turbo went in. Hopefully I'll get that sorted out in the next few weeks and get the thing mapped properly - I've just been distracted with other things.

any pic's of the finished engine 'bay'?
I won't put any pics of the engine bay up until I've tidied it up a bit - it's all a bit 'functional' at the moment lol
Anyway, at long last, through a process of elimination, my smoking problem is fixed. The Turbo's oil return was to blame so I ditched the flexi screw on pipe and got a short and direct all-in-one solid piece made which connects to the block by a push-on fitting.
I've just had the car out for a few miles and the smoke has gone which has cheered me up! Now chip can get on with mapping some power out of it!

Good work
Manifolds, flanges, collectors, bends and car transport PM your needs.
great news neil!! some turbos flow a supprising ammount of oil, pewny blockage and you get james bond style exhaust action.
looking forward to the bay pics
intresting that, so was your origional return just a braided line the same as the turbo? i might have to do the same as i was planning to use one of those braided return kits you can buy... hmmm..
common for the returns to be blocked, cheap and easy to replace.

The original return was a reinforced rubber pipe, but the angle it would need to go direct from the turbo to the block was so tight I used a longer return that looped back gently. The problem was by doing that there was a portion of the pipe that dipped just below the point at which it went back into the block. Most people I spoke to said it wouldn't be an issue but it clearly is. I had the car out all afternoon and the smoke hasn't returned... although I only just made it home with 7 volts of battery power so there's a little problem still to sort out there..

do you have any flexi at all between the return and the block
''THE REAL ROB''
Yes - it joins the block with a push fitting - ie rubber between the 2. Didn't want it cracking when the turbo moves slightly.

Good job Neilone by one to sorted out!!
MIG.....Made In Greece LOL
I wanted a dry sump system but fitting the pump on the inlet side would have been tricky with the steering column in the way and on the exhaust side I have the turbo, engine mount, boost pipes and exhaust downpipe to work around so I decided it would be too much hassle. Oil pressure has been a bit erratic so to help iron out the peaks and troughs I bought a 6pt electric Accusump kit. The kit pictured includes the 6 pint accumulator, electric valve, T-piece to install inline with the oil cooler, a one way valve to prevent pushing the oil back down the flow pipe towards the oil cooler, and a couple of clamps and fittings. I had to modify my kit with a compact 90 degree bend in order to fit the kit where I wanted.
I wanted the accumulator to sit on a solid base as if mouted a bit woolly the piston can try to twist the tube, so I made up a plate in 3mm ali.
The accumulator was mounted on the front of the chasis ahead of the engine. It's starting to get pretty cramped under the bonnet now!
With the compact 90 coming out of the accumulator it just fit's inside the outer edge of the car's chasis
And helpfully it fits just under the bonnet.

looking good, who did you get the accusump kit from? think ive seen them advertised in merlin motorsport mag! well the only place!lmao
fair play you can fit a lot under the bonnet...just!![]()
atleast i know mine will fit there when i get a westy LMAO LMAO
is that really a 6 pint as it dont look that big tbh
''THE REAL ROB''
I got it from Carl at Sorensen Road Sport (01752 603 500).
It's definately a 6 pinter mate.
The 2 and 4 pint tubes are 305mm long the 6 pint is 406mm long. The 2 pint is 80mm diametre while the 4 and 6 are 108mm diametre.
