my dad gave me some useful advice the other day..... 'if your not in bed by 10 son, come home'
Just read this thread. Top work! Alot of time and effort has gone into this! I thought having an XE in there would be fun, but a LET! Christ on a bike!!!
Also, i think i now know where my XE may live in years to come when im bored of a Nova!
Nearly finished building a C20XE nova...
Looking good neil. You have made the right choice!

Hope so Rick - would be good to get it up to Mark sometime in September.
Tonights job was to fit the boost controller. All was fine except the solenoid wires are shot so I need to get a replacement - it seems A'pexi have had these solenoids on back order since May though :frown:

Neil, I dont believe you will do 3s on that gearbox.

No, you're right actually - I'd need one of those long 1st jobbies and even then the change to 2nd would need to be a lot less agricultural. I am, however, planning on grabbing a quaife sequential as soon as funds allow... and I don't need to tell you how much of an investment that is lol.
Stu's got a sequential in his, and it makes the car, and his easily does 3s with 440bhp
Its an Elite il300, costs about 6K inc vat
He developed an adaptor plate with them so he can still use a standard cossie clutch (and hence any aftermarket cossie clutch)
That would be your only minor concern, getting a clutch sorted etc.
Definately the route to go down though.
Talk to me when you need one, can probably wangle you a bit of discount![]()

Will do. I'm sure Stu's is fine but I've heard SO much **** flying about with the Elite boxes that it's just put me right off them. The Quaife sequential is based on the Type 9 and their latest variant is rated for 450Bhp. My clutch setup is a hydraulic assembly so in theory should be straight forward - we'll see. The prices seem fairly in line with each other.
Elite do different boxes, Stu's is the stronger one.
If you go quaiffe, speak to SBS for prices![]()

Yes to be fair most of the crap I've heard has surrounded the 200. I'll still go with the quaife box and will speak to Steve (although he's probably getting tired of pricing stuff up for me and and me never actually buying it lol).
Time waster lmao

Oh my, what a project!
Them seats are fooking awesome i love it! Will have a full read in the morning.
Gearbox came back last week all rebuilt and looking shiny.
Mounted the box into the tunnel again and re-bled the clutch. I was going to put the air filter into the corner but decided that it would be a bad idea to make changing the air filter an engine-out job.
After just short of 2 years planning the LET can now go in.
It looks all neat and tidy sat in the engine bay with nothing hooked up but that's about to change.
Add a charge cooler, some wiring, an air filter, and 40 miles of plumbing, and it all starts to look a bit messy
I wanted the charge cooler to sit squarely nice and neat accross the front of the chasis but there was no way it was going to work - it's just to big, so instead I mounted it at an angle. As it goes I quite like the 'thrown-in' look and doing it this way eliminates an extra 90deg angle from the boost hoses and shortens the distance between the turbo and cooler.
I didn't want to hang around waiting for yellow silicone hoses to be made so I bought some blue hoses in the meantime. The battery needed to be moved slightly to accomodate the filter. I'm not sure where I'm going to duct the cold air in from yet but I'm not short of sources.
I re-routed the water pipework which now that I've re-positioned the charge cooler wasn't really necessary.
I'm not sure where to put the Aquamist nozzle yet - I could either put it into the actual outlet of the charge cooler or else it'll need to go into the neck of the plenum.
The plan for tomorrow is to mount the oil cooler and pipework. Wire up the chargecooer rad and pump. Top up the oil and water and see if she starts...
Hope the thing goes as well as it looks.
Top job
Neck of the plenum sounds like a better idea, best will be 4 port like nitrous instalation![]()
MIG.....Made In Greece LOL
Looking good Neil, if a little complicated
You should stick a valver in, with carbs. LOL
stunning mate
Awesome stuff NeilFunction over form everytime
That thing should be phenomenally quick in a straight line, keeping it that way may be a challenge! What's your setup like when it comes on boost or are you going to get it mapped accordingly?
Paul.
Never stick your finger where you wouldn't stick your dick and you won't go far wrong.
looking good keep the updates coming
Started on the first turn of the key... well after I worked out I had connected the battery up the wrong way round after relocating it. Mapping is planned for next week.
