Project 200TS replica

Right.......Here goes.......
got rid of the calibra and decided I miss my car from SA............too hard to find and to expensive to buy and import...so lets build one.......

first search for a donor car!

found her.......

she is a P reg 1.4 merit.....poverity spec at it's best!!!!

I paid 350 for her (WHAT i hear you scream!!!) .............she is in really good nic......and spotless underneath!!!! and i mean spotless!!!! she has a tiny spot on one arch wich i will sort ASAP.....

So some 200TS history for people

The 200TS was made only for the South African Market, it came as a 4 door saloon and a 5 door hatch (known as the Kaddet) it was full leather (grey or black) and had all round electric windows along with electric ariel full remote central locking and air-con. It had a 20LET (early versions having 164kw and later versions 160kw) the first few were plauged with overheating problems wich were sorted.
the car was created for a saloon racing series that never took off. It is believed that quite a large number were bought by the goverment for a special task force.......

about all i know I am afraid

so here the plan......

she is going to look like this....

not mine but it's white and sexy

my old 8v....love the colour!!!

now mainly this thread will be for me to keep track of what i spend and what i have done....
I will keep this thread up to date as possible but I am moving house at the moment( wich i am never ever ever doing again!!!! the stress....my lord!!!)

will list plans and parts...and make them red when they done maybe get some photoshops up of ideas....

ok here goes the list.

Things needed/jobs doing

Black dash/trim needed still need dash and carpet.all other bits done
electric mirrors (phase 1 or 2 ???)
Clear indicators
remove bumpstrips
astra GSI bonnet + vents (mine is rusted silly)
full respray with a wax oiling!
electric front windows
rear electric windows (hhhmmmm not so easy this one!)
central locking all round plus auto close of leccy windows
remote central locking sorted with vectra central locking
remove side reapers/weld up hole (what does MOT man say about this?)
post 94 rear lights
leather.... (I have a plan....but if i tell you i would have to kill you)
opel astra 200 kit (rear bumper/spoiler/sideskirts)
astra GSI front bumper/grill
Badges (opel logos the words OPEL and 200TS)
wheels (gonna go 5 stud with some 17inch TSW EVO-R's )
16 inch calibra turbo wheels X5
308's front288's on for now
discs rear (vectra rear hubs and brakes off a V6 SRi)
ride height.....(but what height.........like the way the above 200TS sits)

now the next things will probally get me shot..........but
standard Vuax ABS (wich is best? from the MK4's or just use standard MK3 stuff?)
aircon..... (I know i know....dont do it...madness.....practically part of the car blah blah)

Engine choice....
well I have an SEH wich i am giving a minor rebuild gaskets pipes big ends etc.....it has a lightened flywheel and an irmshir inlet with a BMW 325 TB....I know...not the most potent engine...LET i hear you scream.....BUT I have one more thing to add.......I want to use a F18WR (with F20 diff).......I like long ratios! what can i say....want a cool cruiser....

now...could have a 2.5 V6 (they do look good in the bay)
or ofcourse an XE.....

but i have all but decided SEH is the way...I have plans (thanks to some advice from stefan) to build a SEH turbo lump (aiming for a modest 180hp) at some stage.....more to teach me than anything....

well have decided to put the XE in and then the SEH is gonna be a long long term turbo preject.

what have i left out.....cant think really.......

oh yes...ice.....not going anything major on that.....but it will be more of a stealth OEM looking install....

going for 2X '07 DVC sony 10in as i got a good deal on them.....undecided on the rest of the system for now.....

I do have plans for a colour change at some stage...but for now loving the white

anyone have any suggestions for the colour?

ok...i must be going as there is a lady in my bed and lord knows you dont leave a woman waiting in bed!

more pics to come of her now...as soon as i wash her

nice project, just wanted to say if you are going to 5 stud the car, ide have to fit the cav/cali or indeed 200ts std 'fan' type 16" vaux alloys, the tsw evo's would both hide the 5 stud-ness and take some of the 200ts-replica-appeal away.... maybe?

ok alot has happened.....dropped the engine and box out of the car on sunday and have started rebuilding the SEH to go in......have put all electric windows and have a 4-way switch out of a astra convertible on it's way.....almost finished wirring up the rear windows (not east getting power cables through the central locking gromment)....also fittin all the central locking and a vectra remote unlock module so i can do it from the factory looking veccy key fob.....also started wirring up some total closure....also discoverd a large patch of rust under the ariel.....hidden by trim and the bumper!!! so will get that sorted asap......getting the power steering in this weekend and have most of the bits for the 5 stud conversion

have got vectra/late calibra hubs (so right size for 288's and 308 not for 284's) have 2mm machined off the end so it fits the shorter bearings in my cav/cali front legs (thanks markT for the info on how to do it!) hopefully talking to steve from LMF to get the brakes sorted (308's) but have to fly back to SA to see a very sick friend so that has cut about 800 out of the car budget wich i am starting to feel...........but finely got camera sorted so will get some pics up of the mess of the car and the oil stained driveway i have created!

so wil update the list as soon as the boss man isnt looking in my direction!
