Cavalier SRi-130

Hello there don't come on these forums as much as I use to, but some of you may remember the mint green Mk2 Cav SRi I use to own for 14 years. Well I ended up breaking her, selling my Calibre and a garage and a loft full of spares and putting a healthy deposit down on a VXR, but there was one Cav that didn't get away, a 2 owner 46.000 miler that I bought a year earlier...

Some of you might of seen her at PVS and billing last year, so to remind you here's a couple of pics

That was last summer, but about 3 weeks ago I started stripping her down, ready for a full restoration, with the plan of keeping her as standard as possible, and making her look better than new

Some pics of the finish I have planned for all the nuts and bolts etc

And a few pics of the stripping down process

And last but not least my little helper ;D

Thats about as far as I have got up to now, But I've been spending a bit of time sorting all the bit and bobs ready for painting, which is proving to be a pain in the ar$e

I aint started yet

Main plan is to have the underside painted in car colour, with the inner arch areas painted matt black, so i don't upset the look of the antharcite on the bottom of the Cav, then it's a case of painting all the suspension, engine, gearbox engine bay etc, to make her look brand new...

Thank fooking god, at last everything for the plater is cleaned and all wire ringed together, mind there's a lot of it ;D

My mate's been round to access the damage lol, and he was quite amazed at the condition of the shell, anyway it looking like am going to have to get the rear beam struts and lower arms blasted and powder coated, but eveything else he's going to do, all the paints been ordered next week, and he coming to paint the bay on the 10th Febuary, all I have to do is get it prepped ready

Happy days, am starting to think this baby could be done for billing, am on 6-2 for the next 2 weeks, which is when i can really get cracking with the knacking, am hoping bay will be prepped next week, and hopefully might of started prepping the underside as well

A picture of what seem like forever doing

Proper pain but it's done now, theres about a 100 bags with various bits and bobs in them

Yes and also they stand a better chance of staying together, it's really so I don't get a million bolts back form the platers, and having to get them all together again

nice to see another Mk2 Cav on here!!

Read a lot about the car on cavmk2.com and not much more can be added to the comments about its incredible cleanliness. Gorgeous car, keep it up.

Some more pics of how things are going

Also treated one of the inner arches with rust killer to see how it went on, seems to of done the trick

The engine bay isn't that far away from been painted now, just a bit more prepping and the jobs a good un, also made a start on getting the backend cleaned as well, and found it proper solid

The the bronze look is happening on probably 90% of all the nuts and bolts on the car, which is the proper standard factory finish, I believe they call it yellow somthing or another and the the other 10% will be stainless

Vauxfan as for the strut tops, Iv'e never seen one snapped off, and Iv'e had a few, Iv'e seen plenty of split bulkheads and inner wings......
