Re: Brians LET Cabriolet project

Too right.... Just in time for a nice weekend to pose about as well.......

Just got in after going for a drive to Sudbury to help Dan collect his new project.... To say his new project is the worse wreck I have ever sat in to be towed would be an understatement....

The Astra performed pretty well, I am running it in so no on boost fun yet. I had to tighten all the sump bolt this morning as some had loosened off and a quick check under the car just now showed a nice dry sump...

The only problem was it became a little awkward to select reverse, and 1st was sometimes and issue once it got hot, But I think a little adjustment to the clutch, once the engine cools, will cure that.

Its definately good to have her back....

Re: Brians LET Cabriolet project

Just thought I would give a little update.

Basically the car has been fine since I have got it back apart from a couple of minor glitches.

There was a weird noise that seemed to be coming from the suspension as I pulled off that got really bad last week. It turned out to be one of the engine mount bolts had come loose.

I had a stainless exhaust fitted last year that as too loud so I had the backbox changed to a mahoosive one.... . It was seriously ugly from behind but sounded great. Last month I got fed up with the looks so put the loud one back on....

Finally after 18 months since the LET has been fitted I finally managed to get the car set up on a Rolling Road today. Its had so many issues in the past meaning it could not be set up, including an aborted set up 6 months ago when it was badly under fueling.

So Taday it was tested after being strapped down and got a reasonable 230BHP with 6 PSI of boost. Then after 2 degree advance on the Inlet Vernier (XE Cam) and some fiddling with fueling and boost it finished the session with 266 BHP @ 12 PSI of boost.

It drives much better, the exhaust is even a little quieter and it idles better so all good.

Sorry for the lack of Pics, I just forgot to take any more.

I've got a MK3OC RR dy on Saturday and may just wind the boost up a little just for the rollers to see if I can get over 270

Re: Brians LET Cabriolet project

Cheers mate.

I currently have a phase 1 chip. I was thinking of getting phase 2 or 3. Will I need to make other adjustments or will the chip raise the BHP on its own?

the chip will raise the boost limit, you can get fwd and 4wd maps, the 4wd is abit more aggressive boost spike im told... you will need to get the fueling checked for the extra boost though mate.
