| 1.6 head would drop compression, and as already mentioned the nova sport irmscher inlet wont match the 1.6 head.
Engine looks very nice |

You can see the Spec here Dec - http://www.novaload.net/forum/viewfe...r.php?ref=2395
Main things being a Group A head (big valves on a 1300 head), Solid Lifters and the Kent AST 17 Cam.
Some of the fellas that went to the ring with me can vouch on how well it went, it was silly quick for 1400cc 8v. And made 124bhp on its final RR run before being broken on 3 diff rolling roads.

| Hi Keith,
That was one sweet engine mate! I'm looking forward to tuning mine, would love to obtain a similar spec. I ran T40's on my old 1.3 before I fitted the valver, and the thing I remember most (other than the noise) was the 'thrashability' factor, the thing constanstly sat at 6000RPM+ and it loved it!!!
What happened to that old lump Keith?

| If you need any 1.2 parts, I have the engine out of my nova sat here doing nothing, it's covered 4,500miles so everything is as new condition. Wouldn't want anything for it, be glad for it to be some use to someone!

Dec | I missed a gear and buzzed it. It cracked one piston and bent 4 valves, two of which wrecked the head, which cost £600+ alone. So i broke it, along with the car and started my Nova Turbo project.
The cam, solid lifters and bottom end went to William who owns a mint nova sport. So the spec should live on, he's just got a Group A head done too! I'd highly recomend the cam & head, i ran it before with just a ported head and 285 cam and the differance was unreal. Pulled like a train right through the revs! 110lb torque which is alot for 1400cc!

It doesnt matter really, whole engines are peanuts to replace, it lasted nearly 4 years of abuse, most people dont keep a car that long!
and he still has the head and cam etc to do another one.
its all good fun |

| As we had a nice bit of weather yesterday I decided (after freeing up the seized brakes!) to roll the Nova out of the garage and clean off the 6 months of over spray and dust!!
It gave me a chance to take some pics and get a better idea of the work involved... the shell's pretty solid, rust in all the usual places but nothing too bad.
...and here she'll sit until I can talk my dad into coming down with the welding gear

| Hi
I actually bought a Sport last weekend. I used to own one years ago but let it go because I needed the room for a new car! a move I'd always lived to regret. I wanted the urge to relive my Sport glory days and one just happened to come up in excellent condition so I snapped it up. It needs little work here and there to finish it off the way I want it (buffing the irmscher box and cam cover, sorting the webers, etc) but by and large I'm pleased with the car. Disregard the alloys! they're not part of the future! I've got Revolutions on the way as I type.
Best of luck in your new project! I'm glad to see another Sport getting restored to it's former glory! they're a rally icon.
Here's a couple of pics of mine... |
